VW Golf MK7 front door ambient illumination + warning light installation and coding done successfully. Not without complications and my mistakes. But finally it works as it should - with #ambient light brightness regulation from the infotainment screen slider, with warning lights below the door card, with additional LEDs for the door pockets.
🔍 First check your door control modules version as not all #GolfMK7 will have ones that support additional lights. You can check the part number on the module or with a diagnostic tool. You door module number should end with 592 or 593.
🛠 When removing door cards you need to remove door handle cover, there's a screw underneath. Second screw is located above the door pocket. Additionally there's a plastic lock at the bottom. Next release 5 clips (3 on the cars side, 2 on the lock side). Now lift the door card and release it from remaining mounting elements. With the door card released you can disconnect the wiring (door handle line, central lock, mirror adjustment, windows control, alarm LED).
🔌 Connect lights to door control module, 32-pin connector:
3 - power for door handle illumination
8 - power for ambient illumination
16 - power for warning light
🔌 4-pin connector in the door card:
1 - ground
2 - power for ambient illumination
3 - power for door handle illumination
🔌 Door body does not have connection with cars ground. You need to use one of the ground wires from the door control module.

Great work! I started to prepare for a similar retrofit in my Touran 5T. I was always wondering which lights go into the door handle circuit and which for the ambient light circuit. For door handle - only the upper one? The rest for ambient light? Thank you

Hi mate ! I've followed and did all your retrofits, but I have a small problem with the LED strip line on the door. The brightness is quite low, even tho I have set it to 100% on the MIB. Either on white or red, the brightness is around 50% of actual brightness. Can you help me ? Thanks !

thank you so much for posting the adaptions. i got mine wired and working... the weird thing is the main ambient light (long one running the length) does not dim with the handle or grip LEDs. also the controls in the MIB are different.

That's strange. As far as I remember the grab handle and the LED strip is on circuit.

@@mrfixpl that is what i thought as well, i also think i have something coded wrong in the 5f unit. my ambient light scroll bar is completely different. i will post a video of me messing around with it if you are curious feel free to check it out.

What type of wiring do I need? 18 AWG? Also, my door module ends with 393, so it's a really basic one. Do you think I can connect to something else? Like window swich lighting, or something else? Thanks

Hello, Golf 7 variant 2015 Retrofit front door panels with warning lights below the door card,door handle illumination and ambient illumination. Door panels with this options come from a donor car. Looks great, I've been following this install although my MK7 already has these door cards :D I'm curious about something you showed in the first video which was the LED strip glowing red instead of white if you flip the two cables. Does that really work and is safe to try? Also, one of the door handle LED's is flashing a lot or turning off regularly. Do you know if there is there any way to replace those? Thank you!

AFAIK this white/red thing was installed in EU-spec cars, not in NAR. But you can try it. I think it's safe. In Seat Leon (which is basically Golf MK7) BCM controls the color and switches from white to red in SPORT mode. While you're at it check the connection of the handle LED. Maybe it's just a loose wire.

@@mrfixpl That's lucky since I live in the EU, so I will definitely try it! I still haven't put the door card clips in since I retrofitted the door exit lights with the VW Ligo projectors :D and I will check for loose wires in the meantime, hopefully that's the problem since the light still comes on sometimes!

How do I do these codings using VCDS ? Is there any translation from these parameters to the ones showed on VCDS ? I don’t have obdeleven just VCDS and some of these coding lines are missing there. Sorry for my bad english

Hi! You did really nice job! Could you please give me an advise? I retrofitted GTD door panels on my 7.5 Golf, installed everything due to ETKA, code everything like you did (thanks a lot for coding instructions), but inner door light isn’t bright at all. I read literally everything in 009 block, couldn’t find any mistake. Your advises and help are appreciated

@@mrfixpl I tested with headlight light switch on: Ambient light is working, the light under the handle also is working on the 100%, my “problem” light under the open handle is working on 1%. Then I change light intensity on my multimedia, ambient and light under the handle response correctly, even if I move toggle to 0% - they both switched off, my “problem” light stays in current state (1%). Then I switched all the lights in my car - problem light is switched off too.

Hey MrFix i hope you Can answer My question I have eBay ambient that works with 5 controllers through Bluetooth. Would i be able to put My main controller and Connect that door led to the correct pin in the 32pin Connected and make the Lights work as oem without coding. I only need the power to work as oem. I dont need to change lights in the car screen

You can use 3rd party parts from AliExpress or make custom ones. So far I've managed to add just the LED behind the door grab handle.

Sometimes channel names are little bit different but it should work in Mk7.5 as well.
