Vw Hunting NH Rescues - First Drive Full Restoration 1965 Vw Beetle convertible.

Let's go rescue some Vw's and grab a ton of parts in this part 1 of 2 adventure. We also introduce Larry's next full restoration, a 1959 Beetle ragtop car. I found this car in a barn where it was sitting for years. We then take a first drive in the restored 1965 Vw Beetle convertible in the beautiful fall New England foliage.

Those two bridges you crossed over going into NH are being replaced. I grew up in that town. The 10 on the license plate is the month of registration. What a score of parts.

@@5150mxVW I looked and looked all over WNY, PA, OH and couldn't find a VW worth restoring. So, I bought a 68 Chevy Impala and I may buy a 66 Impala Fastback. I can find these around here. Wish I could send you some pics. I just bought bucket seats and a back seat. Going to restore it over the winter. I really wanted a VW but this to me is an investment.

Wonderful black convertible, a superb restoration I’ve not seen anything that good before. Our trees here in the UK are now the same colours with warm sunshine. My favourite time of the year.

I agree with you on the steering wheel cover's. When they first came out I tried 3 times to make them look good. Finally decided if I really didn't like my steering wheel, just replace it. Guy does beautiful work, can't wait to see the next one.

he really does, and he's built / restored so many more....you would never know it when you meet or talk to him. I had no idea until I came to check out his shop after I. sold him the 59 and saw all the magazine articles / museum builds he's done, he never mentioned them to me.

I'm more into VW buses, but even I wouldn't say no to that 1965! Looks and sounds great. The 61 looks less crispy than usual, it has rockers and not just a rusty rocker suggestion. The paint job is horrid though, please someone give it a nice paint job. You see the original colour in the passenger wheel well, a nice blue. I guess painting it in really ugly colours means less chance of it being stolen?.......

If you were lucky enough to score all of the VW's and the massive amount of parts you'd need an old supermarket building to house it all in. A far better fate than any of it has suffered so far left out in the weather like that. I'm more than sure Mustie could take what's left of the Ghia, combine it with the pieces car he now has and make one great car.

Also not sure and can asked for help on Jason what was fire year Volkswagen Bug or Bettle or Bus put on Generator the Regulartor box top why to because some notice you have in cars have it and some don't have to! Is reason to they did too!

It really is , I looked the stripped painted body over slowly in its entirety to find a flaw and I honestly could not find one or where he worked on it, amazing job. Larry thanks you

This is going to become a LOT more common in the next 20 years. Nobody collected this stuff like Boomers. The oldest Boomers are now in their late 70s, 77 to be more precise. These stashes are going to come on the market ever more frequently as boomers either die or downsize. Retired people usually want to downsize. Dead people ALWAYS downsize. This stuff will get dirt cheap and plentiful. This is the reason Model Ts are worth less than VW, despite being decades older. Nobody alive had a model T as a kid unless it was an old junker when they bought it.

Did I ever enjoy that ride…sounds sound. In the day I had a66 and 69. Probably 300,000 between the two. Have really renewed my appreciation and love of the Beetle. KZfaq has been priceless for me. I say I graduated from the U ofYT. UNIVERSITY OF KZfaq, I am still attending daily along with night school. Endless knowledge and information. Thanks for your VW addiction. I have a couple bugs out on benson Arizona that need rescuing. One is a 65 with what seems the original motor. Still a 6 volt car missing seats, carpet, hood and fenders. Let me know if you want to road trip for an Arizona car. Only rust thru is small rear pan holes.
