FYI on those liquid filled gauges there is a rubber burb plug on the back make sure to remove it to get the air out of the gauge on your first run or it may read incorrect.

That’s cool, I did eventually find that out but I just have trust issues with running the gauge anyway. I drive so much that I don’t like thinking of it as a potential “fail point” for fuel hovering over the engine. Thanks for the info I do appreciate it, and stay dubbin.

For sure. Looks like a good one, but the gauge is coming out. It was good for initial diagnostics, but the heat renders it useless after awhile anyway (in the liquid filled gauges) and I didn’t know that.

That's a good one. Nice job. Give your floats another look over and should be fine.

After installing mine I agree. Seems like a good quality piece. Seems to be adjusting nicely with lots of adjustment for fine-tuning. Seems like they take 15 to 20 minutes of runtime fresh out of the box to break in. 👍👍 though.

The Mr. Gasket one , the one I had was 15-20 years old and when it went I don't know how Rambus didn't catch fire . There was a trail of gas on the street . I shut it off and had a piece of hose to by pass it.

Guess I got unlucky. I’ve had two previous Mr. Gasket that both leaked within weeks. I’m not knocking them though. Nice move you keeping some extra hose onboard the Rambus!

Hey Bombero, thanks for the excellent video. These things are so finicky. I have the same carbs on my 69 westy. The linkage that I have seems to be binding, so I was thinking of changing over to what you have or some other brand. I also like the idea of putting an electronic fuel pump, just to get a cleaner engine look. Do you like the electronic fuel pump? Any tips? I will watch your other video of your fuel pump install if you have one. Please help.

Finicky for sure! All carbs have some problems but these are actually good to go if all the fundamentals are taken care of on the carbs, float height, needle/seat/ washer, jetting etc the list goes on. But beyond the carb, Number one seems to be the fuel pressure. I think I mentioned the part number to the Carter pump I installed on the Bus, which is hands down the best electric fuel pump, and seemed to be the only one that has ever pumped the advertised psi. (But I’d still regulate it). On the bug, I have a Derale WHICH MUST BE REGULATED. One thing to consider is a switch to manually turn off the fuel pump, which I still need to do on the Bug. I think you’ll like the elect fuel pump…con’s are that some are noisy (Derale), can and will eventually burn up (I keep a spare on board). Thanks for checking it out and best of luck if you go that route. P.S. yeah I was done with that hex bar style linkage. They have too many directional changes and are prone to too much play and changing the tune once they get warm. Some argue however that the looser tolerance in the linkage (play) keeps the throttle shafts from wearing out too fast. CSP bellcrank has been working good for me so far, but any bellcrank system is way better IMHO.
