2011 to 2023 Volkswagen Jetta received a mid-life facelift in 2015 limiting to mild cosmetic changes made to the exterior and interior. Mechanicals remain unchanged with the same 2.0 litre TDI and 1.4 litre petrol units powering the line-up. Both the engines are available with a six-speed manual gearbox and there is also an option for a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch unit. This implies absolutely no change in the performance of the car.
Starting from Rs 14.15 lakh, Jetta is a good mix of comfort gizmos, premium interiors and powerful engines. Despite receiving cosmetic upgrades, the facelift version remains largely the same. Inside, it gets some styling updates and additional kit such as a new steering wheel and a new infotainment system. Under the skin, it remains intact and hence there is no change on the performance front.
Volkswagen Jetta Exterior
Most of the changes are made to the front with the head-lamps merging into the new radiator grille, bumper and fog lamps. Look from the side is identical to the pre-facelifted model. Rear side looks a tad different with new boot-lid and tail-lights.
Volkswagen Jetta Interior
Nothing significant inside the cabin as it carries forward same layout as its predecessor. The dual-tone black and beige interior colour scheme works well for the premium saloon. Additionally, it also gets a new twin-tube instrument cluster and new flat-bottom steering wheel reminiscent of Polo and Vento. Besides, it also gets a revised infotainment system.
Volkswagen Jetta Engine Specifications & Transmission
Jetta derives power from a 1.4 litre, TSI petrol and 2.0 litre TDI engine. The 1.4 litre, four cylinder, in-line turbocharged petrol engine makes 121bhp at 5000rpm and 200Nm torque between 1500 to 4000rpm. Diesel variants plonk a 2.0 litrem four cylinder TDI engine producing 139bhp at 4200rpm and 320Nm between 1750 to 2500rpm. Transmission duties are handled by a six-speed manual gearbox and a 7-speed dual-clutch DSG unit mated to the top-spec diesel variant.
Volkswagen Jetta Features
Exterior profile sports dual exhaust pipes, steel spare wheel, rear fog light, front fog light with static cornering lights, bi-xenon head-lamps and LED DRLs. Volkswagen Jetta Performance & Mileage
Fuel economy delivered by the petrol engine is rated at 14.7km/l. The diesel manual version is claimed to return 19.333km/l as opposed to 16.96km/l by its automatic variant.
Volkswagen Jetta Braking & Handling
Front and rear axles get disc brakes for retarding speed. As for the suspension set up, it is quite crisp keeping the vehicle poised over pot-holes and erratic surface.
Volkswagen Jetta Safety & Security
It is equipped with prominent safety provisions such as electronic stability control, ABS with brake assist, hill hold control, anti-slip regulation, electronic differential lock, dual front airbags, curtain-bags for front & rear passengers etc.
Volkswagen Jetta Comfort & Convenience
