This is a video showing the possible OEM Budget front brake upgrades that could be installed on a VW MK5/6. You can do these upgrades using all OEM parts. No need for special caliper adapters or special rotors. All OEM.
1) You have the GTI/GLI brake upgrade. This option uses a MK5/6 front GTI/GLI front calipers and a 312X25 OEM rotor. The stock front stock splash shield can be used. You re-use the stock brake hoses for this application. Video says 310mm but it is 312mm.
2) You have the 2008 R32 brake upgrade. This option uses the R32 caliper, 345X30 rotor and front R32 splash shield. You would have to run R32 brake hoses, as the R32 caliper has a hard line at the caliper, so brake hose is different. The MK6 R used the same calipers, except painted black.
3) MK7 GTI Club Sport/GTI Autobahn/7R/Audi S3 brake upgrade. This option uses the calipers from the cars mentioned in the previous sentence, and the MK7 340X30 rotor. You would need to run the MK5 R32 or MK6R splash shield, as you cannot run the MK7 splash shield, on a MK5/6. The MK7 splash shield bolts up differently. You will need to re-use the stock MK5/6 brakes hoses, as the MK7 hose is a different length.
4) 2017+ Tiguan front brake calipers. These calipers are the same as the ones in Option 3, just not painted red or black. You will use the same rotors, splash shields and brake hoses that you would use in Option 3. The part numbers for these calipers are in the video.
Here are the weights for the calipers and rotors.
MK5/6 GTI/GLI: Rotor 15lbs Caliper w/pads 14.5lbs
MK5 R32: Rotor 24.5lbs Caliper w/pads 18lbs
MK7 GTI Club Sport/Autobahn/MK7R/Audi S3/Tiguan: Rotor 23.5lbs Calipers w/pads 19lbs
