Hey guys, in this video we will show you how to remove and replace the A/C Compressor / Air Conditioner on VW Rabbit or VW Jetta MK5 with the 2.5 5 cylinder engine. It is not very complicated but the hardest thing to do is install the belts. ALWAYS MAKE SURE THAT THE A/C SYSTEM IS EMPTY AND NOT CHARGED!

Should of added more PAG and some extreme freeze to lower compressor head temperatures while it was down. Being a used compressor it should of been flushed out with an AC flush otherwise you could of contaminated your entire system after you drained oil from compressor. Normally you add amount drained plus two ounces according to most tech manuals. Otherwise he's good at showing shortcuts. So keep up the good work.

If you’re following these instructions and installing a new ac compressor, don’t forget to add PAG oil!

Unless it’s brand new, a new compressor has oil for the whole system.

@@driver209, my new compressor though not from VW , it’s oem off eBay, no instructions with it and says nothing about oil being pre installed 😳

Hey there your video was very helpful replaced my compresor and condenser but now the new compressor won’t kick in just taking few oz of Freon and it’s the system Is full this is crazy do you have any video explaining that situation thanks

Thanks for the vid guys! My compressor uses the solenoid held on with bolt vs spring-clip. Do you know if I could replace it with a remanufactured one that uses the spring-clip solenoid? Will the hoses work? Thanks!

FYI- if the Ac compressor bearings go out & starts making grinding noise and even though the belt goes around the ac/crankshaft only, you still need the belt for engine to run correctly.
