VW T5 to VW T6.1 Front End Facelift - Step by Step: Part 4 (Bumper, grill and wheel liners)

In this fourth video in a short series we complete the main (pre-painting) elements of the facelift project. This includes assembling the bumper and grill, installing the new wheel arch liners and fitting the complete bumper and grill assembly to the van.

Oh man, can't thank you enough - the 4 videos literally answered all my questions! Bought the exact kit from Travelinlite (T5->T6.1), but at early stage in December 2020, when they didn't label the bags with all the bits and pieces, clips and screws. My van got a full respray in the summer, has been sitting since and now I'm finally in the assembly stage - most part of the facelift process is straight forward and logical, so I guess at the end it all comes together one way or another, but your videos leave no room for mistakes. Lifting a dram of Scotch, thanks and cheers from Estonia!

@@highergroundlifestyle You should send the videos to Travelinlite too - they give perfect overview of the kit and as there really aren't that many T6.1 specific detailed facelift videos around, I'm sure they could use them as a reference. I've been searching above and beyond past 6 months... Found many T5->T5.1 videos, few good T5->T6, but nothing specific enough for T6.1, just some general ones.

Will be doing a T5 to T6 (Not 6.1) on the weekend, hopefully a lot of the steps are the same!

I haven't even bought my van yet, but you have definitely inspired me to have a go at upgrading the front end! Does it come with the neon style daylight running lights?

The new headlights have DRL’s built in. I’ve never regretted the decision to do my front end and would encourage you to give it a go if that’s what you want to do. Best wishes. N

Hi Looks Fantastic, when you fitted the fog light kit did it come with diodes for them as well?, and was the new switch to allow front fog lights did it also have the auto headlight function on it?

Hi I’m in the middle of swapping my front end to a 6.1, what’s the panel called that the bumper clips to? Or do you know the part number, I’ve got all the parts but that

Hi. I think you mean the “front panel”. That is the metal piece that the plastic components fit to. They’re readily available. Best wishes. N
