I appreciate very much that even such rough times you are there making things smoother with your videos. The Touareg is an amazing SUV, but we see in small details that is not au pair of the premium ones. The steering wheel, window buttons, even the seats aren't there. My favorite is the X5. I am soooooo glad Thomas and his team have been continuing on making these great videos during this pandemic. Bravo Autogefuhl team!! V8 diesel... holy cow. Now that's torque. Need a big tree to pull over? I got your back! Meanwhile the diesels have been killed in NA. A friend had an A7 V6 3L diesel and that thing hauled ass big time. I should have bought it from him after his 3 yr lease ended... Over in NA, the strongest engine is the v6 petrol 276hp in the Atlas Cross sport. Seems like an ancient engine only having 276hp. I haven't driven it but I'm curious. I guess the higher end approach didn't sell here so the Touareg was killed by the cheapened Atlas. Oh well. Keep up the good work kids!

Fantastic review Thomas. As a 2014 TDI Touareg owner (US spec), I just love TDI torque. I cannot imagine what 700 ft/pounds of torque must feel like as compared to the ‘14 406 ft/pds. For me, this is the ultimate German car, other than perhaps Alpina’s D5 (TDI) Touring. 👊🏻

Hengmao Zhou Was going to get an RR Sport, hadn't thought of the Touareg then saw this. Same size, but VW has noticeably more trunk space... and no JLR reliability and service issues

Do I wish we could get this beautiful SUV in Canada. We have the Atlas but in my opinion, the Atlas is a big heavy aggressive vehicle as it is made for big heavy aggressive American's Thank you for your excellent review. Auf Wiedersehen

I agree with your assessment. The atlas is marketed towards the financial planner of the family which is marketing doubletalk for the females of the family. I don't care if people are offened regarding that comment. My rational/thinking is simple from the logistical point of view. I too would have a more favorable position towards VW if this vehicle (toureg) was brought to the market here besides just the atlas.

This Tuareg looks soooo good. The VW SUVs we get in the USA are ugly. Tiguan is too long and the Atlas is just bulky and ugly.

Breathtaking interior design with glowing material. I guess the seats must be very comfortable and Thomas’s sitting position looks more comfy too. Regarding how big is the V8 engine this Touareg seems not noisy especially when Thomas pushes it. It really seems calm.

The interior is lovey. That ambient lighting and overall lighting is so calming and crisp! There are a lot of screens so that is either good or bad. What was reliability like on the older touregs?

The Touareg r line from 2020 actually has a different steering wheel. The new Volkswagen steering wheel. In addition, the R line logo is still the old one. I think it's the Touareg r line from 2019. Of course that's just my opinion, it shouldn't be a hate or criticism. I'm just wondering.

I could listen to Thomas all god damn day. A shame they don't sell these in NA any more because this would be perfect for my wife who hasn't even figured out how to use all the crap in her Grand Cherokee yet. LOL. I love the design inside and out of these things. If they (VW) would cover the cost of changing the camshaft chains at 60K it would rocket up the "To Buy" list.

Yet another god review. It seems pointless to say that again, because your reviews are out of scale. There is actually no competition on this level.Not at this amount of details and information. Not to mention the professional camera work, music background, everything. Well done, I hope you never let us down 😎👍 Yes this ny Touareg deserves a new and better steering wheel. Strange VW didn't think about that 🤔 You said something about suspension and i am not sure i understand correctly. But of what i can see watching the video, the ride sims kind of bumpy almost all the time. Is it that so, or is just my impression? Stay cool, stay safe, stay healthy 😎👍😷.......................🙋‍♂️

Love my 2017 Touareg Wolfsburg Edition (USA model) which I bought at a much reduced price ($12k off MSRP w/ 1k miles on it by a VW Manager) and exported to Cayman Islands where I live. I would buy the new when ready to change if VW ever gets around to improving their warranty in Cayman Is? which is currently only 2 years. I like Audi cars too - their SUV's not as much - but they do have 5 years warranty. Same for BMW and MB. Even Jeep is now moving to 3 year warranty here and so better than VW. Still - really like the VW Touareg. And thanks for another great video Thomas. I'd stick with the petrol V6 too.

I bought the V6 2017 version which is last generation available here in Canada. It is under powered compare to my 2012 TDI which I liked so much but had to be sold back to VW. In any case the Touareg is so much better than the Atlas.

@@nachohernandez9491 ok mr hernandez here in the states we got tiguans and atlas, some states might have tourages if they are close to mexico and people drive over in em, canada might have tourages and a few might come to my state aka New York State, that is differnt from that other state like New Jersey State, but were all in the States. thats for clearing that up for me.

Great Review, driving part and commentary as always. I personally don't mind the old steering wheel too much as it is of high quality, but they could have used an R-version wheel? Don't like the hard ride from those big wheels, thanks; and not a fan of the complicated infotainment. As much as I like a V8, not my type of car, too big, too much money! Although I think the information system may be dangerous to use on the move and that steering wheel, yuk! Is it safe for you when you pick up these cars? Great review, there’s so much to love about this Touareg, but in my experience adding technology does not equal a better experience, while adding cost and complexity. I.E. the infotainment touchscreen is not ergonomically improved over switches and buttons (cumbersome). - - Surprised to see how rough the ride was during the driving review. -- Although we no longer have the option to buy the Touareg here in the states (disappointed with Atlas), I will still say the Touareg has moved too far up the luxury scale for my buying preference ($$). My 2017 Wolfsburg Ed. Touareg is just the right balance of style, comfort, and technology for the right price point - do miss my previous TDI version that VW bought back. Keep up the full screen, full length, full HD reviews. 😁🤓😎

VW has always been a bit more upscale than the other mainstream brands. It's why they were usually more expensive than a Toyota or Hyundai or whatever but then Americans don't see past the price despite it being more premium so they took it away from that market.

When Porsche announced the first Cayenne decades ago now, Car and Driver Magazine (in the USA) said this about it: “purpose built for the socially conscious North American car buyer.” That basically being a fact, most Americans spending big money on a car need their egos inflated with either a Porsche crest badge on the hood, or more recently, four Auto Union rings in the grille. (But today’s Audi buyers wouldn’t know what I just typed). Summation: expensive VeeDubs don’t sell in America because most American car buyers are too egotistical about the badge in the ‘brightwork’ of their grille. 😎

What do you think is the ideal size city car? I think it is a pity that small cars = worse comfort, handling, less power etc than larger cars. I would love a vw up, but with expensive suspension and sound deadening for instance.

I think that the infotainment is confusing and too complicated to control while driving: I hate the climate control integrated in the screen, which I had in my Peugeot 308. Too bad, because I like this Touareg more than the previous generation. Thanks Thomas!

depends on who drove them. Cant tell, have been many people driving them. Cannot say if they were cold started and revved up like hell. But most probably not. These cars are closely monitored. How do you know it is a press car and not a usual demo car?

R-Steering wheel, where are you? I think it's a luxurious SUV, but this motor is not for all auto-bahn countries, V6 could be a better choice :)

The only thing that is ugly on this car is that steering wheel!! Oder than that is gorgeus! Only the x5 is maybe better looking! Thanks god in R version that steering wheel is changed! Btw its a monster with this engine!! Wow!!

Hey thomas, idk if you will be reading this. But i was wondering how does the process work off borrowing cars from car manufacturers during this crisis? And aren’t you afraid you might be able to catch it since you are borrowing a car that has been touched by lots of people? Stay safe out there!

Love your videos Thomas. Just a small question, I hear you talking often against leather seats, so what do you propose we should do with the skins of the animals we eat? Or should we go vegan all the way?

Thanks Roberto! A) depending on quality grade animals are raised for leather. B) turn the argument around, meat is waste of leather industry and it looks ridiculous. But it is ridiculous both ways. It is all about body parts. Would u care for which body part u are getting killed in the first place? As a customer u decide if you give your money to a more sustainable industry or the leather industry that exploits humans and animals at an epic scale of terror.

@@autogefuehl thanks for the info, didn't know that. I'm not related in any way to the leather industry and even if it was OK I wouldn't chose them for my car, I prefer fabric. I'm just interested in the ethical side. So, my question remains : is it ethic to use the skin of the cows we kill for food, or should we quit eating beef altogether and go the Indian way?

Thanks! No, since you give money to the industry. So you support the whole killing/damage to humans, animals and environment as a customer. Imagine you are against oil production, from oil you get petrol, diesel, and some dirty rest stuff for airplanes and ships. Would you say that it makes sense to boycott Diesel but buy Petrol? You get what I mean? :) And there is another easier example: Would you say we should use the skin of dead cats and dogs on car seats? Probably 99 % of the population would disagree. Because it is against our basic ethical codes.

Do all the modern German cars with LED headlamps no longer have separate fog lights in the lower front bumpers any more? Or are they there, and I can’t see them? One reason alone to buy this car, NO FAKEY rear exhaust tips! 🤣🤣
