@michaeljandreau73412 жыл бұрын
I like that the orchestra and conductor made this recording (Early 80's) when they did. Seen a recent rendition a couple of years ago; it was rushed and the timing was off, the pianist held up the performance because he knew it was going to be recorded so he was showing off and the conductor was a amateur in dealing with it (I.M.O.) This recording is perfection by true professionals.

Listen to 0:37-1:19. If you had to describe Mozart to someone who had never heard his music, with just a few seconds of his music, you couldn't find another piece that was more quintessentially him. :-)
@theletterwynn10 жыл бұрын
What I find recurring in Mozart's music is his characteristic dominant cadence with the melody being so-ti-do! so-ti-do! Do-ti-do-ti-do-ti-do-ti-do-do(octave lower)-do-do-do (or any variation of those). It's heard in Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, the overture to Marriage of Figaro, his 20th concerto, etc, off the top of my head. Nothing is more Mozart than that, in my opinion.

There are probably millions. We assume that Western music is universal. It may not be, even if it was created by a genius. I remember cases where very, very popular musicians died and I never heard of them until their deaths. Selena, who was very popular in the Hispanic music world lived in my same state and I never heard of her until she died. I still haven't heard her music. People still talk about Kurt Cobain. I had never heard of him either. Chris Cornell died recently. Who? No offense to his fans, but it appears I'm the ONLY person in America not familiar with him! I wonder if he's known is Saudi Arabia, El Salvador, or Algeria, or Tibet? The point of all this is that if super popular contemporary artists aren't universally known who perform in a very current and popular genre, how likely is it that a classical composer who has been dead more than two hundred years is going to be heard by all the people of Mongolia, Orissa India, or some county in Appalachia America. Don't get me wrong, like a said Mr. M was a genius, he composed some of the most beautiful and sophisticated music we will ever hear, but it is more likely than not that millions of people have never heard of him, nor his music. I'm also sure I'm missing some great music by persons unknown to me also.
