I never bothered with WASP before and I thought they were a gimmick with no substance but boy I couldn't have been more wrong. Since I actually sat down and gave their music a listen I've become a big fan of theirs. Now I'm so lucky I did just that. Their old and new and in between tunes are hard and complexed I can't wait to hear what is next.

I remember Blackie in 1993, in an interview with Headbanger's Ball, after the release of The Crimson Idol where he said "I will never make record with Chris Holmes again" 3-4 years later here he is, making two records. I saw them on the Helldorado tour in Sweden, it wa great. Forward 10 years, Blackie says " I won't play f*ck like a beast" (because of religious reasons). Forward 7 years and now we hear that *F*ck like a beast" is going to be on the tour. Well. what's up with that? Marketing is a hell of a drug...

IMO...Their is no doubt, that they were better with the duo of Randy Piper and Chris Holmes playing guitar and Blackie on bass. Blackie's guitar skills aren't all that he claims. Maybe in the studio, but live Randy Piper was better. Blackie always pounded the fuck out of those tunes live. I really respected his bass playing back when they started out. The fact that he could sing those songs live and sound just like the studio recordings was awesome. It just seems like he doesn't do as good of a job singing and playing guitar, as he did playing them on bass. Randy and Chris played a much tighter set and even hammered drunk Chris' solos were killer. Blackie's leads sound like a fucking out of key/tune.. train wreck. Other than that, this is probably the heaviest sounding live W.A.S.P. show that I've seen to date. Its a little rough around the edges, but its raw af and i wouldnt want it any other way! Through a good system, its got some really decent low end, for most of the show. The old shows with Piper just seemed a lot tighter and the guitars sounded much thicker with Blackie pounding out the bass lines. On another note, I highly recommend for anybody who's never seen the era of W.A.S.P. with Johnny Rod on bass, to check that shit out. Johnny was a madman on the stage and the backup vocals were excellent, during those years. W.A.S.P. never let us fans down live, no matter who was in the lineup. So, don't take what I said above as a total insult to Blackie. Its just my opinion from being a fan from the beginning, up till now. W.A.S.P. has always been energetic and played consistent great sets of music live, from all of their albums. From the vocals to the guitar playing, they're a pretty damn incredible band live. Considering they moved around like they were on a constant rampage, and they always sound like W.A.S.P. . Even if you close your eyes, you know its W.A.S.P. 100%. I have to give thanks to Blackie and Chris for giving all of us fans consistently badass music. Even on the records that didn't do to well, there's always a few killer songs unlike anything we'd ever heard. Thanks, for the killer video and interview!

Probably gonna get lynched for this, I feel KFD was to W.A.S.P. basically what Hot Space was to to Queen. Not great, but not completely unbearable... There is are some gems scattered about on both albums, but the rest is just... Cringe. I love both bands immensely and tip my hat to them (and other artists, since we're on the subject) for having the balls to get out in front of the younger crowds and reach out to them by attempting be more relevant to the timeframe, but ultimately, compared to the rest of their works, it's just... "Eh, this era feels more like a musical midlife crisis to me, but I'll still give it a listen and tap my toes when the mood suits me", or background noise (that I won't skip or turn off) while I'm milling about doing other stuff. Still an excellent interview from our Master Lawless, though now contradictory to his current standings... But, hey! People change. That's life. That all being said, WHY is neither this nor Still Not Black Enough on Spotify??? ESPECIALLY the latter??? I would KILL for a re-release and stream including ALL the bonus tracks!

Yeah, Blackie's pretty outspoken, but he's always viewed W.A.S.P as HIS band, and he's always been the main creative force behind the songwriting, as well as the live show imagery and theatrics. Chris Holmes contributed some cool lead guitar work, but if you need proof that Blackie was the force behind W.A.S.P's songs, select any of Chris Holmes' solo project songs, hit play and prepare for the cringe....

У Криса жутко не строит гитара, и он похоже этого не слышал. Вообще я думал он хороший гитарист, а как оказывается новичковый уровень, все эти нестроевичи, недотяжки в бендах, в целом грязная игра...
@user-om9jz3yn6o
