These aren't literal translations. The problem with translations of loaded language is always that you can either go for natural language and style (like here) or go for the literal translation, which will feel unwieldy, alien, and bumbling. The first one actually goes back to a Spanish scholar (Baltasar Gracián y Morales), and it's an incomplete quote. The literal translation goes like this: Better a fool amongst everyone than wise by yourself, say political heads. As you can see, the last bit is quite important. This saying is *not* about how to be true to yourself, about the wisdom in acknowledging your own foolishness, or anything comparable. It's about social dynamics and the reality of human interaction.

True and genuine friends observe one's good qualities and make themselves available to you without them saying i want to be your friend. Good friends don't impose themselves, they only make themselves available and approachable. If you make yourself approachable then a good friendship is established but if you ignore them they simply walk away.

From now on we are free and are no more subjects of other nations or servants of other races. This included also what Kwame Nkrumah said on 6th March 1957. What we need to understand, and do, is to change our attitudes and minds. Neither we, our children nor descendants should be prepared to work for Europeans, Arabs, or other races on this planet. We Africans, can develop Africa ourselves, as once said by a former Nigerian President Mr. Obasanjo. We only need to start ourselves. One of the secretes in life is to have no fear, also an axiomatic expression from Dr. Nkrumah which is also true. Slavery, Colonialism, Neo-Colonialism has come to an end once and for all. Now is the time to embark vigorously on our Economic transformation. With the Advent of the AfCFTA, you see many opportunities arising. Suspiciously, you find the EU coming up with a huge cheque to outbid or challenge China who came to us without any condition when we were, and still are, in need. We must be very cautious because these Experts are not straightforward, as once asserted by the Wise President of Ghana during his Visit to Brussels at their parliament. They may be tantalizing us and before we realize our good friend in need China, is gone whilst we have abandoned the extraction of our Oil and Gas endowments to catalyse our economic development. From now on, all Africans living in Africa should believe and realize that this is the time we have been waiting for. Owing to our natural endowments, including our God-given and biological heritage, we have enemies. The aims of these enemies are that they want to take away our land and soil direct or indirect from us. They want to subdue, subjugate we and our children through political, economic, or precisely said,” trade practices” including direct and indirect sanctions to remain perpetually poor. When they went to North and South America they did so. In Australia, it was the same. In Africa they failed and hence slavery, colonialism, oppression, intimidation in all forms including psychological warfare. They have not given up, and they will never give up. These are facts we must understand and believe. We need to think seriously about what happens after the current conflict between Ukraine and Russia which may turn to a third world War. We need in the first place the greatest part of our natural endowments for our industrialization. What we need to do from now on, especially when they come to us in Africa is not to engage with them in any respectful manner as usual. The more you respect whites or better said Caucasians, the more they oppress you. Those living among them abroad knows what I am talking about. The only language they understand is to be zealous, wise, straightforward, and hard! If necessary, compromising must be put aside. Nonetheless, if you live among them, you have no choice and must hence be cautious, else they will destroy you, even in schools and universities. Currently they are requesting African countries to abandon their aims of exploiting their natural resources, especially Oil and Gas for economic development. In Ghana and recently Uganda this is apparent. In his book first published in 1973, “Voice from Conakry” from Kwame Nkrumah; from pages 18, 21-22 I quote: “At last we were on a threshold of a great new victory… Now in 1966 we were at the threshold of winning our economic independence…The same people who tried to sabotage our winning of political independence nine years ago have now struck to sabotage our economic independence… Remember our battle cry is: Away with stooges of neo-colonialism Down with the clique of army and police adventures and reactionaries. And what are they getting? From a (an - EU-Nation) they have been promised £3.5 million!” (Voice from Conakry, page 22, line 9-10). Africans should simply not listen to them. Africa must not allow such a thing to happen. No oppression or intimidation should allow this. The overthrow of Kwame Nkrumah has caused great destructions, balkanization and suffering in the whole of Africa for more than half a century. They trade intensely with North Africa and neglect Sub-Saharan Africa in many ways. They are prepared to continue importing Gas and Oil from Morocco and Algeria, whilst Sub-Saharan African Nations are requested not to do so but rather invest only in renewable Energies. All these have preferable roots, regarding who is less white and who is black. These facts must be closely watched. Please African Leaders, think about your children and descendants if you care for them. To start defending our territories we must start recruiting our youth, who try to cross the Mediterranean to Europe, in our regular armies and pay them well. They will be prepared to protect Africa instead of being recruited by France, Britain, or the United States as we speak. We need an African High Command. Think about the West without NATO. We need to examine and understand the real mission of this Organization. Without peace we cannot develop, whereby without defence we cannot develop either. In the absence of collective defence, we are encountering coups, attacks, and deaths in central, West Africa, Mozambique and in the Congo. We have not been able to get a common currency, South Africa has not been able to appropriate Land to most black citizens, and likewise in Namibia, where 300.000 whites are owning at least 50% of the Land, of which they are not prepared to share it with the African citizens. France is still holding great Wealth from former African Colonies. We are all human beings hence Caucasians, who choose to leave amongst us in Africa must be prepared to do so and live in peace with us, as thought by Nelson Mandela or let it be from NOW on and FOREVER; not tomorrow, tomorrow next, or anytime in the future, but NOW. Wake up NOW Africa/ Africans and keep eyes on future development and arrangements after the current “War”.

@@lytnin88 Yes I know. Just making a comment. The Americans got some of their words from the Germans too, like the word yeah is a corruption of the English word yes and the German word Ja. Yes + Ja = yeah. English has a lot of words from other languages. The American word Pants comes from the Spanish pantaloons which means trousers. The use of two names as a first name such as Mary-Beth often used in the South comes from the French. In France double first names are common such as Marie-Louise. I find it fascinating to study the origins of words.

The narrator is obviously correct.

Obviously the text is right. A good conscience doesn‘t need an accusers is too obvious to become a proverb.

3:14 The narrator says 'A good conscience needs no accuser' but the writing has ' A guilty conscience needs no accuser' hahaha! :)

Amazing. In my country in África we use some of these proverbs but i never knew they were German. Incredible.

Because its all mixed in and are not only german quotes. Putting country names on makes clickbait.

They are not specific “German”. Most of these sayings are also in Dutch. And Dutch is a German branch-language. JUST LIKE MODERN DAY GERMAN. In fact Dutch is an older language than High German. Most surtain the Dutch "braught" these proverbs to Africa.

Yes you can do bad by yourself if you stay with bad company you'll never be happy anyways so you gotta love your self and don't give yourself to someone who doesn't have the same intention s

Profound truisms; however, I take exception with the one that read-- being alone is not good. It is good, in fact, it's necessary.

Nah. You may take exception to it, but it's a psychological (or biological if you will) fact that humans are social entities. You may retreat into yourself for defence, comfort, or a myriad of other reasons. And I'm not going to say that you can't be happy that way. The fact of the matter is, however, that most humans will be happier in good company than without company. In fact, humans will die if starved of affection. LIterally. There were some unspeakable experiments in the 20th century.

@@RagingGoblin I didn't say we should become castaways on purpose, or move to the mountains. Human beings should embrace solitude from time to time because it allows us to reflect on the past and envision the future. Furthermore, I would argue, that being alone is infinitely better than being in bad company. Extremes are generally uncomfortable in life, therefore is good practice to engage every stage of it.

@@coolcaiman9640 Oh, I can agree with that :) Bad company is *a lot* worse than solitude. Also agree that everyone should have some quiet time now and then to just reflect as deeply as possible.
