Then you should say Han and Miao don't have same culture, but we are all Chinese, there are around 10 million Miao in China, they are not only live in south China, they can choose anywhere, any city to live in China, they can go to any universities to study in China, there is no any difference with other ethnics groups. Miao means seeding or sprout, indicate Miao people are very diligent and hard work, they are very repected across China and have such gorgeous culture to share with us.

All Hmong are pretty, doesn't matter where they live. It depend on where you meet them. The reason they marry Hmong Laos is because most of the Hmong in the States are from Laos. Communication is easier.

Miao was not a derogatory term until the Yuan and Ming Dynasty. In ancient times it just meant descendant. It was not used again until the Yuan Dynasty when Southwest China was brought into the Empire

Miao(Hmong) originated from China then to Vietnam or Laos & centuries later, so it began the Secret War between the CIA, Miao(Hmong) & Laos. Afterwards the Miao(Hmong) and other asians live in the USA.

Miao, or Hmong as you stated are not Chinese. They are very different in culture, language, and many other ways. Miao were chased out of there homeland 5,000 years ago. Our ancient leader was Chiyou, or Txiv Yawg(Father Grandfather). The Miao people fought back but lost and was forced to speak Cantonese or whatever. They refused to give in to Chinese rule and fled there homeland. They fled south through vietnamese and into laos. During there migrations, they divided into serperate groups.

Geli Yang is a Hmong person from China, who has traveled to America many times, Laos, Vietnam, etc. He says in the interview that some people dialects are very hard to understand and you have to listen carefully to understand. Most of what tiezi00 say is true. The age of warring, political persecution, and resisting came to a dead halt when Mao turn the country into a socialist republic. Life for the Hmong/Miao has changed more favorable to the Hmongs. The new generation of Han are not that of the old bunch. The new generation can not be hated for what their forefathers did. tiezi00, you have to bear in mind what Han forefathers did, from 2700 B.C. to recent 1980 Miao endured extreme hardship.

Eventually, over thousands of years, the dialect changed enough that you may not understand them. Does that make them less Hmong? They could be saying you're the one who changed. The principle of Hmong people called themselves "Hmong" mean free man. Us Hmong don't like to involve within any political level individually or within a group up to the 1960.
