This is a pretty good rebirth story. I saw a version that was a bit different, especially the arc with the sister-in-law and the romance-arc with ML was different. I liked the cast in this very much and the chemistry between the leads is good. Definitely well worth watching. SYNOPSIS - SPOILER ALERT!!! FL is a widow who is mistreated and used by her in-laws to financially support the family. She is very sick and confined to a wheelchair. One day she finds out that her husband, the Marquis (2ML), isn’t dead at all, but living a good life with a new wife and child - only waiting for FL to finally die so he can bring his new family into the mansion. The shock triggers her illness and she dies in the arms of Minister Yan of the Dali Temple (ML), her husband’s nemesis. FL is then somehow reborn the morning after FL was yet again sent to ML’s bed by her family because of the imprisonment of her husband’s brother. This time around, she decides to take matters into her own hands and starts by examining the account book of her husband’s family business/shops - in order to find the hidden expenses that cover her husband's double life. Next she breaks off the relationship with ML because she discovers her pregnancy, saying the uncle has a wife of his own that can sacrifice herself to ML, in order to try and get her husband out of prison. In the time that follows, FL deals with the family, but is time and time again entangled with ML who eventually finds out about the child. Things get complicated when a Princess that ML is connected to, appears at the scene. Well, this has a very happy ending.

@@kjo5985 First of all, sorry for the long answer, but it’s hard to tell when you (like me) are not Chinese. Since I have seen way too many C-productions with similar basic plots, I can guess many things despite bad subs. The reason some subs are so bad is that many videos are auto-translated. But Chinese is a very difficult language to auto-translate since, 1. Chinese doesn't have the exact same pronouns (for instance, both "she" and "he" in English are "ta" in Chinese), 2. There are many homonyms in Chinese. Since a lot of words sounds the same, they are hard to translate only by sound (for instance, 代价 (dài jià) means price or expense, while 待嫁 (dài jià) has the same pronunciation, but means that a girl is waiting to be married). Only a translator who actually watches the video would know which word to choose and 3. The language is very figurative language, using a lot of sayings/idioms that needs another kind of translation (like “There are no walls that wind can’t pass”, meaning that “Secrets are bound to be discovered one day” or “When the fox preaches, take care of your geese”, meaning “Be aware of hidden agendas”). Direct translation of these, will leave most people utterly confused. When I started watching C-productions I didn’t know anything about the language but some sites have very good subbers that translate idioms too, like viki.com where a lot of Asian productions are available (both with and without subscription), so it’s become kind of a sport for me to collect some of these idioms and recognize words and sentences (I’m somewhat of a language-geek). In light of that, I like to write these reviews/synopsis in the hope that more people can enjoy (and understand) these C-productions. A lot of them are highly entertaining so it would be a shame to miss out on them.

女主看起來像比男主年紀大，覺得男女主外貌沒有很匹配。女主總不苟言笑緊抿嘴唇，談笑時都不像在笑。女主表情很少，眼鼻部份幾乎都不太動，就一號表情。口部變化也很少，幾乎就是閉嘴或抿嘴。開局近距離時塗淺色口紅覺得女主滿美的，但後來女主都塗個大紅口紅，又常拍側臉，突顯上唇較為突出、下嘴唇太薄。這種妝容之下顯老，也不顯女主是美人。

I wasn’t sure about this at the beginning, but got completely sucked in when an arrow the size of a freaking spear came flying in to deliver a teensy note. I was so distracted thinking how much more reasonable a carrier pigeon would have been that I had time to really fall in love with her maid. That was a neat relationship between her and the FL. I enjoyed the plot. It didn’t feel horribly rushed, and it told us enough that we were able to fill in enough blanks to get the gist. I really appreciate that they didn’t include a lot of torture sounds (though perhaps that was cut out as the music mostly was?). The makeup was creepy in spots. You know when they put an actor in a “fat suit” and his face moves kinda rubbery-like due to the prosthetics used to fatten up his face? It is like that. Many expressions were unnatural, and I swear a couple times a wrinkle got stuck in place around noses. But I get it. Every advancement in anything has its learning curve, and this type of makeup will get easier to use as people get more experience, and the prices go down so more people can work out the kinks. Some of the costumes were super nice. My viewing had inconsistent video quality that wasn’t related to my wifi connection as it occurred in the same spots when I rewound. So there were some sections blurrier than others, but I mention it to assure you that it is all viewable.

I think it is amusing how people travel through time or rewind their lives to a time when they could change their fate, but maybe having a dream would make the whole story more believable, you know, they dream and see where their life will go if they continue down their present trajectory, sort of like Scrooge ghost of Christmas yet to come.
