At this point my father being a retired electrical engineer. He says there must be a automatic thermal switch in the internal amp that is faulty. Which would require disassembly of the radio. No known part to fix it yet.

I have it on my glk car, and I don't think it's a imp issue rather a mother board damage coz I there is no imp on my car or this type of radio I went to a shop where the change it fully n it works good.

Its ridiculous the amount of people have this problem and the only solution is "dealership fix". I have the same problem but only after the car is hot. Cold starts it works fine. So aggravating.

@@joelpatterson3413 I just bought and installed a wrecked cars radio. Everything so far is working properly. No programming needed. That's my $250 dollar answer to the dealerships $1,800 answer.

@@joelpatterson3413 i have tired a replacement unit from same model. It powers up but no sound. Did you have to change any configuration settings?

Go ahead and add another to the list. I have the exact same problem too. It started out to happen only after I drove for a bit and stopped, then when I get back in and start it would do the popping thing. Now it won't work at all, just pops and cracks. It looks like its new(upgrade) stereo time. woohoo

I have somewhat of a similar problem. It started out like so: Sound of then back on after switching off the car and back on again. Then when it happened again, I reset the radio system and it fixed the problem. Now, not of the above works. What can I do about this please?

Well, I finally got mine working. The problem appraently came from the amplifier in the boot/trunk. It was too expensive to replace so I had someone bypass it. Works fine. Output is good too

its a common fault in this radios mitsubichi made,hardware fault in main board DSP part,not easy to fix need professional to do this , i use to repair this radios for 8 years more than 100 unit same fault

@@dannyduncan Not yet. Went to an audio shop and they offered to put in a new radio for me for $1500. I want to know what is causing it so I am going to keep looking.

Dawit Worku you have to change the fuses in the back of the radio (20) the number is 20 or the one in the engine bay

if u have this problem, u can try this method... try to unplug ( - ) in accu, and let it for 10-15minutes, and then u can plug it again...

@@leeds20301 I got your video translated and understood the solution - however you changed the external amp. Unfortunately I don't have the external amp option and replacing the internal comand amp is a bit more complex (and maybe not the complete solution as others are reporting). But thanks for sharing!

Some problem with the main board of the radio, think it is the DSP chip on it.. Dealer will prob ask you for ~400€ repair.. But you can find repair shops that repair for around 150€
