As we travel from Ellensburg to Packwood, I come across some challenges. Mostly my confidence as we navigate down this steep hill.

Thanks Bro. I actually tried to do it the year before and decided on the Wenas road bypass and lost control of the bike and wrecked it (didn’t actually happen because I had just turned the camera off) if it’s not on film it didn’t happen right!

I am enjoying doing BDRs on my WR250R. I recommend that setup. I could never pull off a big bike on this hill.

Very cool. Shit happens. Most of us suck atthis shit but do the best we can while challenging ourselves and mostly having fun. I dropped my Africa Twin on a greasy muddy unmaintained county road in Kansas. I broke ribs...it hurt ..could not pick the bike up. I hiked to a paved road and flagged down a trucker who helped me . Scary but i would do it again. I am 66 years old. Go for it guy !!!

Ya what you describe sound like a recipe for disaster....mud...africa twin....66 years old. I guess sooner or later the ADV fad will fade a little with each broken shoulder/rib/foot/hand story that roles in on you tube every day on mass.....

Loved this video! And thanks for sharing it with us. My son and I've ridden this both up and down on loaded 1200 GSA's. If you've never been there, . . . it is as steep as a cows face. By that lone tree in the bend of the trail, there are roots crossing the path making for ledges that must be hopped going up. It's steep and very loose which makes for a very tough ADV bike section. Congrats on riding the "REAL" baby head hill.

Just did that last week on a Honda 300 Rally. Worst hill I ever been down, it is so steep with loose rock you can hardly control the bike. After the tree roots, we went into the right-side lane and worked our way to the bottom. My Nephew dropped his 300 L into the hill 2 times when changing lines from the rocks rolling out from under the tires. I would avoid this hill on a big bike unless you are a very skilled rider.

The big advantage bikes are so heavy...its literally two ktm 500 exc in weight and engine size.. I had the same africa twin for one year and went back to a dual sport.. I am 60 years old ..so that's part of it...but it just took the fun out of it...i was more worried about trying not to get hurt then enjoying the ride.. To each his own.

I can totally relate. I was thinking after the second fall I wished I had my 450 with no gear. The difficulty was part of the challenge. Bent a rear brake lever and it finally broke but we completed it. Learned a lot and some things we will not repeat.

That is Babyhead Hill. Its a tough one to go up. Going down it is much worse. There is a nice bypass with a beautiful waterfall close by

The little wire cable on your brake pedal mounts ahead instead of behind. It's there to prevent you from bending your brake lever.

I feel your pain! I actually had to turn around and go the long way around on asphalt. It was 90+ degrees and I was burning up my clutch with all the attempts to take the hill.

Looks like your Africa Twin is brand new…..gotta break it in with lots of scrapes and dents (proves you are dirt adventure rider for sure)
@davidcolinfisher1034
@davidcolinfisher1034 9 ай бұрын
I sort of get your point, but really the dents and scratches "should" be from riding.....not dropping and crashing every 5 meters. Those dents and crashes "prove" that you quite possibly just maybe "shouldn't" be riding this bike on this hill with that skill level....etc. Dents on the bashplate from hitting rocks...while staying up "proves" something about being a off road rider. But then again....I retract....a bashed up bike does actually prove that you are an ADV rider....because it seems most of them crash out every 5 meters.....

Must be 600 pound bike, even before adding a rider. Am I the only unwanted voice here to suggest that this and increasingly numberous videos of monster bikes wallowing upon their sides on wholly inappropriate landscape make the case of Adventure Biker reconsideration? Rocks, sand, trails, creeks... try a Honda 300, mates. Adventure to be found there too. A weird, growingly comical moto trend, this.

Pat - It looked a little bit rough on that section of the BDR! :) I look forward to doing something like that sometime. Thought on the video. I don't know if it is possible in the video app you are working with but the sections where the camera is flipped over are you able to flip it through your software? Anyways just a thought...
