Hello, If you are referring to the back of the water pump housing where there is an oil plug on either side of the housing, then yes you can use regular motor oil. That reservoir is not for lubricating any seal rings, it was designed to keep the mechanical seal cool. Hope that helps.

Hi John, Here in the U.S., Wacker changed the design of the pump and the new PT3A is very different. Can you tell me which p/n or item # pump you are getting? I don't know if Dubai is selling the newest version yet. Send me what you can, even if only a picture and I can tell you what to get for it. Thanks

The Wacker has always primed even in a 13' deep swimming pool. I got jammed with debris yesterday, and now it doesn't prime. Checked all fittings, hose, etc. I'm thinking the impellar just needs to be tightened up. Any suggestions? Thanks Dave! Oh, and one more question. Any idea on how to keep the haft from turning when I take off the impeller?

Joe, There are a few things to consider. First, are you just checking to see if it primes with the suction hose in the water and looking for moving water or are you testing the pump only ? I always separate the pump from the hose to eliminate a damaged or unseated suction gasket or a small hole in the suction hose or something. When it was running yesterday and working how much suction lift was there? ( the vertical distance that the pump can be above the liquid source.) Is it the same as today ? If it was deeper today than yesterday you could be looking at worn components and yes, shimming your impeller may help depending on the condition of everything else. If the depth or distance is the same today as it was yesterday, I would be looking for something like an air leak from a damaged O Ring or cracked / damaged mechanical seal. When we remove the impeller it is with the impact wrench with the impeller tool or a socket on the impeller. Usually the speed and impact do their thing and the shaft doesn't move much. You could use a piston stop ( I don't love them when using an impact wrench, you could damage the piston) or we have in the past put starter rope in the spark plug hole. Bring the piston to the bottom, feed in some starter rope, (You'll want to be doing this on the compression stroke to keep your valves closed.) Don't let the rope fall in, you need to leave some hanging out so it can be pulled back out. slowly rotate the engine until the piston compresses the rope and doesn't allow the shaft to turn any more. Either with threaded couplers or quick disconnect depending on what is on your pump. Standard pressure gauge, valve to release the pressure, drill and tap the coupler and away you go. All standard items from a Home Depot or similar. Hope that helped..
