I am facing the very situation that you saw at the beginning of this animated movie. Very likely that at some point in the not too distant future I'm gonna wind up alone cause the love of my life is ill. Treasure every second that's all I can say.

The first ten minutes of this movie are a short film masterpiece.

Anyone who doesn't cry in the first ten minutes has no soul.

This movie will always hold a special place in my heart. I watched it a few years after my own wife had passed. Childhood sweethearts, married young and lost her a few years later. No one in my family had any idea what this movie was about and we just assumed it was something fun for all of us to watch the with my niece and nephew. My poor sister was horrified when Ellie had passed on 😅 I was both laughing at the situation and crying because of how closely it hit home. It was such a healing movie, I found myself watching it over and over. It really teaches you about grief and how it’s okay to let things go. Doesn’t necessarily mean to forget, but to not let it hold you back from continuing to live on.

The most devastating opening to a movie ever. I fell apart at the movie theatre watching this the first time. In my book this is the greatest PIXAR film ever made, and that is out of a dozen of their films that I consider masterpieces.

I lost my grandfather when I was 9 and I lost my grandmother in 2022. So watching UP all over again, no matter how many times I've seen it, the first 10 minutes and Carl opening the rest of the pages of Ellie's adventure book knowing that her adventure is her married life with Carl. So watching this film again and again no matter how many times I've seen it, this film will always make me cry because I missed my grandparents so much 😭❤️ I missed you so much my Lola and Lolo 😭

My wife and I went to Disneyworld in 2018 and besides getting engaged ha ha one of the best parts was getting photo bombed by Kevin lol

Just FYI, not sure you remembered later, but the Dad is implied to be a workaholic, it's assumed he used to be more supportive then over time preferred work over time with Russel, this most likely lead to the divorce from Russel's mother. Phillis is most likely a new wife, or a maid. it could also be that his dad got divorced and THEN started ignoring Russel. The long and short, the father is not dead, he is a just a deadbeat dad who ignores his son and sees him as a nusiance, giving him false promises, Russel wants his old dad back so thinks he can get him to come back as he promised to come and pin on his assisting he elderly badge, though at the end it is shown his dad is still a deadbeat and doesn't show up, but Mr Fredrickson does instead.

I never thought about it before, but part of the intro reminds me of the opening of Raising Arizona. Like Carl and Ellie, Hi and Ed are enjoying their marriage and hoping for children. The slow transition shot here matches Hi’s words: “Then the roof caved in.”

I remember watching this when i was kid and loving it so much, its nice revisiting. It brought back memories i had forgotten, I remember watchig some really good animations with my sister but I dont even remember the names so i cant rewatch them now. loved your reactions and i love you guys together❤❤

Worse than getting to live your entire life with the one you love the most in this world. Is being deeply in love and happily married for twenty eight years. Only to have your partner go through such a horrible menopause that they become someone else completely. And no matter what you do for them. You're no longer good enough and in their hormonal distressed mind those wonderful twenty eight years of love and happiness. Is only remembered as twenty eight years of suffering and emotional abuse. It was like someone had just flipped a switch. Her mother lost her mind as well during menopause. But I was hoping that drastic degree of menopause would at least skip a generation. I , unfortunately, was wrong. I will die alone. I'm already too old and too broken down to be of any use to anyone. But I choose to continue existing at least for now. Because life can change on a dime and when I used to work with troubled teens. I always warned them to Not make any permanent solutions for temporary problems. Because life can turn on a dime and will always when you least expect it to. Great reaction you two. I'm an emotional movie watcher myself. And I'm former Military Police and a former chef and chef instructor. I'm Six foot three and weigh three hundred and thirty pounds. But I still cry like a baby at many different movies.
