Waffles House sustained me while I was in school studying electronics and working full-time. Was such a frequent customer that the waitresses would already have my Coca-Cola in hand when I sat at my usual spot at the counter. A double order of hashbrowns was a cheap meal that filled you up and kept you going on those long 16 hour days

Actually, working in a Waffle House should be a pre-requisite for all FEMA employees as they are much more responsive to people's needs and probably have more experience at crises management. 🙂

Working in some form of food service should be a prerequisite for everyone. It gives you and appreciation for just how hard the job is and perhaps it would reduce the number of just plain rude restaurant patrons.

@@chrisose There shouldn't f?cking be ANY. Period! We're all slaves to the death machine because, nobody knows how to cook and grow food, which was the plan for America all along. Every body bought in to it. Most folks eat human remains and feces. And end up with Parkinson's disease. Which was renamed from Kuru by the medical industry to hide what was actually getting served in fast food joints.

i love the "AWFUL WAFFLE". Seen lots of entertainment such as tourist meltdowns, crackhead fights, cockroach courtships, and other things. Food kept me going. Service never bad. One incident I witnessed was an overwhelmed manager who worked over night and none of her morning help showed for work; 1 cook and 2 waitstaff. Out of my own kindness, I cleaned the tables up for her and she gave me old bread as payment so I can give it to my chickens and use it as bait. I hope those 3 no shows get coal in stockings and crabs in pants.

Waffle House, like McDonalds, is an American Icon that travelers look for while driving long distances. Waffle Houses are a welcomed sight knowing they never close; this is a blessing to the weary traveler and their food is always visible while being prepared so the diner knows what he's getting (no filth from the cooks).

Waffle House has maintained it's food quality, while McD's has devolved into serving imitation meat, flour-paste sold as potatoes (french-fries), reconstituted egg whites, whipped, frozen & sold as "ice cream" though they carefully never call their glop "ice cream." Some people find this a place to denigrate another restaurant chain. Frankly I have never had a problem with McDonald's especially love their sausage egg Mcmuffin. If some of you out there dislike this franchise obviously well fine but frankly this not a place for that especially what seems like untrue and unkind stories. Obviously those who don't like McDonald's I couldn't disagree with you more.

It was a big deal until a couple of years later, when the Kennesaw exit (about 3 miles south) somehow ended up with FOUR Waffle Houses. My hubby’s ex has worked for WH for many years. Nice video. But as a Security Officer who has worked major holidays for too many years to remember, I hate silly corporate gestures such as the one noted above. The cooks and staff have to work, so to make it fair; the executives do too. What's the point of that? Doesn't show the cooks and staff any real respect or consideration. Pay them double for working shifts on major holidays, and let the executives go home and enjoy their day off. That way, everyone ends up happy.

The government will likely allow some restaurants to stay open after any disaster because they served a purpose. Some of these restaurants may not be allow serve food depending on the situation. Likely most restaurants allow to stay open serve only coffee, milk and soft drinks. Finally they will be able to serve limited food. Oddly the Waffle House Index is a great salute to this restaurant chain by the FEMA.

The government does not allow or disallow restaurants to be open during a disaster. That is dependent entirely upon the condition and supplies available. Where do you get your ridiculous miss information?
