Looks great. Seems to have a bit of lateral flex too which is a nice touch. Not just a brick wall with handlebars…

Nice video 🔥 How smooth is this vs the road ? I’m actually using Wahoo Kickr Snap, the difference vs Road is huge. Even, with Assioma (to compare correctly wattage), indoor experience is more painful. 160w indoor look like 200 outdoor in term of sensation. ERG mode is even more difficult, need to push more to reach the target, compared to road. There is no « inertie », don’t know in English. Would you recommend the switch for me ? Thank you 🙏

Both are good but a little different. The Shift is quieter (no motor hum) but lacks the forward drive on downhills. I tend to prefer the overall feel of the Shift a bit more than the V2 as it feels smoother.

Looks nice. I find myself drawn more and more to Zwift recently due to extremely hot summers and snowy winters here. And nothing seems to get my HR up as easily as Zwift races/group rides. I am currently using a kickr, but it’s a bit noisier than I would like between the chain, freehub, shifting, and motor noise during downhill parts. Does this make a clicking sound when coasting?

No discernible noise when coasting, a very light hum. No free wheeling noise like you would normally hear.

I have a Kickr bike V1, using it daily for 4 years. Zero problems. Very quiet, but not as quiet as the Shift, I would assume. The bike is mounted on a Saris MP-1 rocker plate, the best. I use the variable tilt function in manual mode to adjust seat comfort on long rides. I would greatly miss that. The inherent rigidity of the Shift without tilt and without a rocker plate would quickly make me unhappy on long rides. My two cents.

@@peterguarinio3632 - It appears that the Move has some, but limited lateral movement, probably comparable to the Neo. If I had a Move, I would still use it on a rocker plate. Comfort on long rides IRL, depends on lateral movement, front/back movement, and rider seat position(tilt). The evolution of indoor trainers has been a progressive attempt to duplicate that.

Great video! I have a question. I owned V1 for 10 months. I do a lot of riding on it. I love it. I had an issue a few weeks ago with pairing (I think it is due to the gear switchbox). Wahoo wants me to send it back to them and they are sending me a new V2 soon. I don’t use the inclination, or the gear shifting. I always do programmed workouts. I like the new bike, with fewer and simpler features. My question is: if you had the opportunity to have either of them, not considering the price, which one would you choose? I am not sure if Wahoo would be open to send me a new Wahoo Kicker Core Bike though instead of a new V2 Wahoo Kicker bike. Thank you.

I couldn't stand the bar, tape, or lever location on mine when I unboxed and set it up. Getting the bar tape off was a nightmare, a heat gun was needed to get the residue off. The levers were very difficult to unbolt. A ball ended hex driver is needed. Bad design..

Maybe it’s just me, but I still think $3k is very pricey. Having that pívot point also does not sound like a $1000 part/upgrade. The materials are not that expensive to command this price in my opinion. The market will be the judge but I see it going to a sales price like the previous models relatively soon. I just think most people already have their bikes from the pandemic and are more apt to sell rather than add an indoor bike.

Trainer prices have been dropping (well, until Wahoo and Zwift settled their lawsuit...) over the last year or two--thanks, Zwift Hub!--but smart bikes have become more expensive. It seems like they arbitrarily landed on $4k USD as the default flagship price (it seems implausible that Tacx and Wahoo had the same R&D, manufacturing, shipping, and distribution costs given the very different nature of Garmin and Wahoo's companies but yet they charge the same price to the penny for their smart bikes) and so $3k is meant to look like a discount by comparison. But you can still buy a decent trainer (Core, Hub, etc.) and a reasonable road bike for the same combined price and have far more versatility, including indoor training. So yeah, I think smart bikes are charging a *substantial* premium. I'd love to have one because I do most of my weekly riding indoors, but the price point is currently absurd for the value.

@@BrentNeal1979 I agree with you 100%. A full smart bike is a nice to have. In my case, I sold my previous road bike and waiting for stock of the next. I can’t even ride inside on my kickr for obvious reasons lol

No. The Q factor is huge on the Shift. That's MY biggest gripe about. Otherwise, I love my Shift. Oh, and the name...horribly inconvenient for Googling stuff. I.e. the search results are always some other Wahoo Kickr product that happens to mention something about shifting...

Replacing bar tape on this bike was one of the first things I did. The quality of the original is ridiculously bad. The rest is just superb, although my shift bike produces more noise.

What is your opinion on the build quality? I had some issues with my Kickr v5. The welding of the legs wasn't straight on the first unit, which affected sideways movement and weight distribution somewhat, and then on the second unit the thru axle hole was bad/asymmetrical, making it a weak point. Third one was spot on, but this has made me wary with the Taiwan factory QC. It's handmade and there's room for errors in the parts or welding unfortunately. I'm thinking of upgrading to the Kickr Shift, so hopefully the QC and production is improved on this. By judging how it looks, I feel like the build quality might be a step up from the Kickr bike. It looks simpler and with more robust adjustment levers.

Super solid. As mentioned in the video I think it should be better than the KICKR BIKE V2 due to the lack of pivot point.

@@DesFit Thanks, I agree! I like the climb functionality on my Kickr Climb, but I can do without it, since I've recently been doing a lot more Zwift workouts (with ERG mode, instead of free rides), and then the climb functionality is disabled anyways.

Yes, it's quieter due to the lack of drivetrain from an actual bike and that it's belt driven.

It simulates grades with resistance (like 99% of smart bike trainers/bikes out there) but doesn’t have the physical incline of the KICKR Bike V2. it still works great with Zwift.

Pretty decent product, but price makes no sense. Just buy a wahoo kickr core and a used road bike. This will cost you a total of about $1200 and will give you a more comfortable bike. And you can also go riding outside with it if you want. I think this should have been 2000 at most. Not really sure who will buy this.
