Valerie Labi is CEO of Accra-based Wahu!, a scale-up on the cutting edge of mobility in Africa. Wahu! designs, engineers and manufactures e-bikes in Ghana - making zero-emission mobility affordable, safe, reliable and functional. In the process, the company seeks to tackle the mobility challenges faced by both urban and rural Ghanaians and other Africans alike. And in a rapidly urbanising country in which the population - just over 34 million in 2023 - is forecast to surpass 50 million by 2050, the question of how Ghanaians will get from A to B has never seemed more pertinent.
In an energetic speech at ICBF 2023, Valerie told us about how Wahu! came to be, what the company's mission is and just how it intends to address Africa's mobility.
