My family and I went swimming in the waimea Shorebreak one day when the water was all brown. When we went home we were all sick with a fever and vomiting. Theres alot of bacteria after a rainstorm that could make you sick. Be careful!

glad you didn’t get sick! i once got encephalitis that way (huntington beach after a rain) The doc said if i’d waited another hour before getting taken to ER i would’ve been toast. spinal tap too. but also they gave me an iv full of morphine :) stay safe!

I boogie boarded on Kauai and back in high school it occasionally made the best sandbar. This was back before you were born. LoL never seen it that good again. Turned into like a point break. Multiple 3 second tubes. Chocolate milk water and only me and my friend out! Great time. Thanks for the video John!

Love the music, the narrative at the beginning and the challenging surfing spot at Waimea, not every video needs to be at Pipeline, to be honest I enjoyed this one over many Pipe videos I seen from other Vloggers.

Lived by the Tower. Only time I've ever seen it worse was 1969. Covered Waimea to all the houses on beach. The waves pushed all the houses back with roofs on the foundation. Scripps School of Oceanalogy said it was the biggest wave on record of 80' feet. They were out in the ocean from Waimea.

how so ? I've heard muddy water like this makes it harder for the sharks to see so they move closer to their target but what about the river mouth ?

@@antoinevince1 I’ve always been told since I was a kid never to surf at the end of river mouths. Murky water makes it harder for a shark to see its target making move closer and then biting you. As well as the river dumps all sorts of stuff up stream like dead animals fish etc
