@@jasonparker8389 no. Mostly because of the amex partnership. Amex plat and amex spend for diamond. delta diamond is the lowest threshold easiest to get amongst the other big 3. I got diamond by sitting in partner metal where MQD= 40% or miles flown instead of actual $$. So if you fly transpacific in cheap J, you get $6000-$7000 mqd while actually spending only $2k at most. Now delta diamond is one of the most expensive just second to PPS Solitaire i believe.

In an industry with such thin margins as the airline industry, this would be a recipe for disaster. The structure of management would become way too disorganised and ESPECIALLY political - where factions in the workplace would prop up and compete for benefits - that the airline would suffer. So many airlines have already struggled and closed down like Pan Am, TWA, Northwest etc. without dealing with that massive burden. And when an airline closes down, everyone is worse off.

Finally someone making some sense It’s not about how much one is paid, it’s all about the value they bring in probably delta and American CEOs combined bring billions and billions of revenue to the company and the economy, their management helps runs thousands of jobs. Can an Airline pilot run a multi billion dollars company? Probably yes or maybe no, he chooses to be a pilot or attendant whatever. But ceo and management is whole another beast to handle in any business let alone airline.😊

@@vorfour this is the argument. The amount of CEOs who come to a company, stay for 2 years, screw things up, and STILL unashamedly pocket huge bonuses, then take off. The company I work for has had 3 CEOs since 2020. How much do you think the latest Boeing CEO will walk away with. A lot of the time a CEO comes into a company that is already doing well. They can just sit back and thank the predecessor for the good work or screw it up and STILL get the big bonus. QANTAS had a CEO that fired people all over the place, claimed the company was in dire straights, NEVER issued a dividend to the shareholders and still gave himself a 20 million dollar bonus. To say they bring billions to the company is not always the case.

There is a big problem in the UK where advisory boards are recommending shareholders cut the salaries of CEOs at major companies. These are companies compteing globally like banks, mobile network providers and yes airlines like AIG group which owns BA, Iberia, Eurowings and a few others. Recently an advisory board advised that shareholders reject a request for a CEO of one of these major companies to be paid £3.4m for the year. The company hadn't done amazing that year, but it hadn't done poorly, and basically the CEO decided to leave and go to America where salaries for comparative firms run into the $40m. The UK is losing so much business to the USA, and undervalued stock and underpaid CEOs is one of the reasons. The rich, as it were, need to get richer.

There's absolutely no reason ever for a CEO to have such high salaries! Sure, a CEO maybe should have a slightly higher salary than others, but it shouldn't be some stupid fantasy amounts! The CEO should only have a salary that is at the most 2-3 times higher than what the employees gets paid... Just imagine how much better the employees could get compensated and aircrafts could be maintained and up to date and ticket prices could be kept more affordable with that system! As it is now, employees are struggling financially due to increased cost of living (which is totally stupid to begin with... Who are humanity owing all the money? Some unknown alien?!), a lot of people around the world can't afford to travel because of how much the ticket prices have gone up while salaries and pensions haven't. And then there's the CEO's around the world who are like leeches, sure, they may do a good job, but that doesn't entitle them to have salaries that high that it may cause financial issues for the company so they can't afford to pay employees more, can't afford proper maintenance etc. It's not just CEO's in the airline industry that is an issue, it's CEO's in general!

You realize if their increased their baggage fees by $1 purley to increase ceo pay they would be making close to 100mil I doubt baggage fees are the issue. Its relating to ceo retention and shareholder negotiations. If another company is willing to pay a ceo more for the job, then they will jump ship. So ceo's are often replaced and often paid very well in the US. In places like japan, if you jump ship from 1 company, you are unlikely to get a job anywhere else.

The problem is, they DONT deliver the best. How many times do you see a new CEO come into a job, hang around for 2 or 3 years, take a golden handshake then disappear and bob up in some totally unrelated business. The airlines have this habit of employing CEOs with banking and financial backgrounds and no experience in aviation. Tourism, which I work in, is notoriously guilty of this. To watch the amount of companies go to the wall and find the CEO has bailed out AND unashamedly take his bonus with him ( because his contract says so) is typical of the greed that goes on in the world of business.
