Man I *PRAY* tuning will be unlocked *THIS YEAR* because I really do think these 10R80 S650's are going to *MOVE OUT* with FBO & E85!! Came here to say Whipple has the unlock for tuning. I believe they are the only ones but a Whipple 10r80 s650 sounds pretty sweet

I own a 19 GT with Performance pack 1 and magna ride. When shifting into sport mode (with the shifter) and setting the car on drag mode, that dam thing shifts quick with the paddles. Not sure what everyone is complaining about. Mine seems to be pretty dam quick. If Ford has improved it, then that's all well and good. Not giving up my 19 to pay $60K for one just like it.

Derek I was invited last summer to a seminar, (invitation only) by Ford Engineers who developed the S650 and I learned that Ford made changes to the S550 by >113 areas of the car. They enhanced both transmissions (10R80 + MT-82). They wanted to speed up the shifts to encourage drivers to actually use the paddles like in most other Sports Cars. I feel like they accomplished that. I have about 3K miles in the GT and Dark Horse and in sport mode & track mode the 10R80 shifts quick enough to use (S) on the transmission on the track as opposed to Auto/D. Overall the S650 drives better than the S550. So thank you Ford Engineers!!! Enjoy your new Apex!!!! I look forward to all your Mods!!!! Cheers Brother‼️👍👊💪😎🇺🇸

Curious to know what the cost difference winds up being between starting with the base vs starting with the GT premium Performance package, magnaride, and all the other stuff you can get without going up to the darkhorse. The price tag difference as of 2 days ago to order from a dealer was around $25k give or take.

My car is a base model too. I went that route because of the weight difference. 301a. The only option i got was the 10r80, active exhaust, and the appearance package which was the black roof, badges, and wheels. They messed up and instead of getting the cheap black base wheels, it had the California special wheels. 😆

87 is all I run in my 16 GT. I do drive like a grandpa though! 😂 But I do run 93 when I'm at the track. The s650 is growing on me, but I still can't get used to the video game dash, even if they have "retro gauges". Enjoy it Derek!

I have a 2023 10r80 mach 1. The paddles are amazing and dct quick(I have tracked a 2020 GT500 before for comparison). With that being said, the paddles are not always quick. The Transmission has to be warm on the gauge, shifter in sport mode, and the throttle 40%-50% throttle for this to happen. Otherwise it has a delay. I think a lot of people don’t know this and it would change their mind if they did. It sold me on the car while test driving it.

@@DerekBaranProductions the same goes for the downshifts. Usually in the shifter needs to be in S, susp in a mode above normal, and the vehicle needs to see some aggressive driving(usually a decent amount of brake pressure).

Congrats! On the new 24. I happen to have a 19 GT pp1 with a 10R80 and I can agree the shifting is definitely off and sometimes clunky. My car doesn't have a tune but i used forscan to clear and turn off the damn adaptive learning tables. This fixed the way my car shifts completely. Shifts buttery smooth now and when you're on it with the paddle shifters it shifts extremely fast like as if i have a Lund tune. So if you start having issues with your 24, I would immediately clear the adaptive learning tables with forscan. You will feel an immediate difference.

@@cormaro13well thank you for the message but this isn't my first sports car lol. I have owned 15 th sports car so my guess probably more than you have. I have modified all of them except for this one that I currently have which only has full race suspension, a major diet and drag pack. Yes I know suspension warranty is gone and exhaust warranty. But wanted to keep the big key components covered like motor and transmission . Any one of them I've had tuned even bringing it in for an oil change. They have found the tune and I have had them void my warranty completely or try like hell to do so. And yes I know I can go the Magnuson Moss law warranty act that they have to prove the parts they put on the car caused the failure. I have done this and I've still lost a few times on my vehicls . GM and Ford and any other manufacturer have a lot more money and better lawyers than you will ever get. And I also have had multiple friends lose their warranty's as well.

@@user-bk5ey9ws5g that’s sad to hear especially when I had a whole transmission replaced in my 2013 Chevy ss just a few hundred miles away from warranty being expired and it was engine and trans tune with headers , cat back exhaust and e85 , I guess some are more lucky than others lol But you’re right this is will be my 3rd sports car cause I’m only 25 lol I’ll be keeping the 2024 on a stock tune for now , glad you did the key items on the 2019 tho , that’s the achilles heel on those , that whipple with a warranty sounds like it’s coming next lol

I would still put 93 from the start. Factory has adaptive octane logic so will see more timing on stock tune and prevents knock which is never good. Most shells and top tier fuels have more cleaning agents on them to help keep carbon from building up

Derek great videos by the way. I'm a Mustang guy that currently doesn't own one 😞. Owned a 89 GT and sold that when I met my now ex-wife and we bought a house in 2005. Couldn't handle it and bought an 04 Mach 1 in 2006 which I owned until 2014. It was a legit garage queen as it only had 12K miles on it when I got rid of it to get a vehicle my son and I could do travel and camping with. He's now 16 and will be graduating high school in a few years and I'll be back in the game then. Looking forward to that day. On a separate note, I noticed you use Sheetz fuel a lot. Is it primarily because you can find E-85 there? What's your thoughts on Top Tier fuel brands? I use Shell in my vehicle and I think there is a fair amount of data on Top Tier keeping your engine cleaner. Lastly, it's cool to see a fairly local guy making great Mustang content. I'm about an hour up the road from Richmond. Keep doing good stuff.

I love the Pony's. I have a 2016 C/S. I wish I had friends like you and your friends because I only know one person that has a Pony. My mom's first car was a '68, and my late fiance only owned Ponies, three of them in total, and her son has the 2013 she left to him. My next one is going to be a Dark Horse or a GT350R, once I get back in the saddle.

I've never driven a 10r80 but my 2017 6r80 shifts quick like that with the paddles. I had no idea that the gen 3 10r80 paddles were that bad. I love shifting with the paddles though. You kind of get best of both worlds.

I have a 300a 21’ PP manual with 9k miles bone stock. Im making small changes….k&n filter, catch can, dremel/ open up the grill intake, BG manual trans fluid change…… I like this car. Don’t knock the 300a. Add track suspension and you will have a genuine problem child on your hands

Smoother gears with 10r80 2024 but I wonder if that’s why their slower … seriously .. the 2018 to 2021 we’re getting 12s high 11s with the aggressive clunky neck snapping … lol
