It’s probably a circle hook. It’s standard technique to let the fish run with it a bit and then steadily apply gradual pressure. You don’t set a circle hook in the normal way.

@Jefffahfffah Well, if you use a 10/0 and tightline, one the fish picks up the bait the tension sets the hook in the corner of the jaw. Waiting just increases the risk of stomach hooking or foul hooking. Hey, but what do I know. I'm not a longline fisherman trying to reduce by catch with circles.
