As far as the story in "Overdose," what you need to keep in mind with everything you watch that has to do with EXO is that EVERYTHING they are involved in is connected and everything they do is designed to tell a little more of EXO's story. EXO's MVs are all like one continuous drama or mystery. As with everything EXO does, you have to understand that the whole concept of the group is that they are supposed to be aliens from Planet Exo and they came to Earth on a mission to find and protect the Tree of Life from the Red Forces. Each of the members has a superpower that is unique to them and you will see at least one, if not all of them, using their powers in almost everything they do. "Overdose" came out in 2014 and this is one of the last MVs where all 12 members are part of the song and MV. (Kris left the group right after this MV was released and Luhan will leave within the next 6 months.) In the beginning there was 12 members and they were split up into 2 groups EXO-K and EXO-M. EXO-K sang and performed their songs in Korean and EXO-M sang and performed those same songs in Mandarin Chinese. EXO-K had 6 Korean members and EXO-M had 4 Chinese members and 2 Korean members. However, since then, 3 of the 4 Chinese members have left the group (short answer to focus on their solo work back in China) but there is still one Chinese member left, Lay. (Any performances or MVs you watch that took place prior to May 2014 you will see all 12 of the members.) However, now, because they no longer have enough Chinese members they no longer do separate promotions, but they still produce almost all of their MVs and main songs in both Korean and Mandarin they just now promote all as one big group EXO with 9 members. How EXO worked back when they were split up into the two groups was that all the members were in both MVs, but the K members were featured more prominently in the K version of the song and the M members were featured in the M version As you saw, in the EXO-K version of "Overdose" the K members sing the main parts of the song, but if you watch the Mandarin version, you will see the M members take over the main parts of the song and MV. So, even when the MVs look the same, they will always be slightly different because the members are assigned different parts in each MV. For example, in the Korean version the second rapper is Sehun. Because it's the EXO-K MV, the EXO-K rappers (Chanyeol and Sehun) are the ones that are part of the rap section. If you watch the Mandarin version you will see Kris, Xiumin and Tao are the rappers because they are EXO-M's rappers. Tao is also the martial artist of the group, so he is the one that does the flips and stunts in EXO's routines. You should watch the Mandarin versions of "Overdose." as well. :D If you watch EXO-M's version of "Overdose" you will understand why we say even though they may seem like they are similar MVs, there are distinct differences between the Korean and Mandarin versions that are important to EXO's storyline. Plus, I think you may even enjoy the Mandarin version of the song just as much, or more. Also something to note, you see Kai in the beginning and end of the MV in the Korean version because he is the center and visual of EXO-K. However, in the Mandarin version you will see Luhan fills that same role because he is the center and visual of EXO-M. Plus, Kai and Luhan were each others' power counterparts as well. So this establishes the connections between EXO-K and EXO-M. Kai and Luhan were supposed to have a bond that connected the two groups and made them one as part of EXO's storyline. In the the MV what you saw is that the members have been trapped in a maze by the Red Force and they are trying to use their superpowers to escape the maze. For example, in the Korean version you see Chen throw a beam of light which is an example of them using their powers. Chen has the power to control lightning so he tossed a lightning bolt to Lay who has the power of healing. Lay is the only one who could have caught that light beam without being injured because he can heal himself. In the beginning when you see the EXO-K members making that picture while standing on each other, they are forming their hexagon symbol which is EXO's official symbol. (In the M version, you will notice it's different members.) The different sets you see, are thought to be different rooms within the maze or maybe alternate realities or time periods created by the Red Force to lure the EXO members to them. So, the story in the MV is pretty much the members trying to summon their powers to try and escape from the maze.The box that D.O. had at the beginning of the MV was full of dirt. D.O.'s superpower is the power of earth or dirt and it gives him strength, so he was using the sand to build his strength back up. The other members were also trying to use their powers of teleportation, fire, light, etc. And at the end of the MV we discover that the maze has only one way in and no way out. Which I think is meant to represent and mirror the fact that they are saying they are trapped by love and once you are in there is no way out. The maze was also EXO's logo for this album and it is shaped like EXO's hexagon symbol. Although, in the song they're not overdosing on anything except love. As the English lines in the song say: "So bad, no one can stop her ... her love, her love (is) fantasy ... Oh she wants me, Oh she's got me ... Oh she hurts me ... someone call the doctor ... (her love makes me) overdose ... too much of your love makes me overdose ... too much overdose ... You're in my heart ... with you I can't stop", etc. This song is kind of a love song about how powerful love can be that it feels like no matter how much you try to resist it you keep getting pulled back in like a drug. However, for the storyline in the MV there might be a little more at play than just being drugged by love. Some theories say that the story in "Overdose" is connected to the story in "Lucky One." In "Overdose" the members get trapped in a maze and they can't find their way out. The red light represents the Red Force who have trapped them in the maze. It is thought that the maze causes the members to get disoriented and sort of become incapacitated so they are unable to defend themselves. The maze dulls their senses and makes it so they lose the ability to use their powers at full strength, etc.The theory speculates that sometime after the end of the "Overdose" MV EXO gets captured or transferred from the maze and brought to the government facility by the Red Force and that is why we see them in a hospital-like setting in their "Lucky One" MV. In the story in the "Lucky One" MV the members are drugged and they are being experimented on to discover what makes them so special. In "Lucky One" the members use their powers to break free from the facility. And this is where some theories connect the story in "Lucky One" to the story in their "Ko Ko Bop" MV. One theory is that the story in "Ko Ko Bop" is them trying to detox from the drugs they were given in the government facility in "Lucky One" and the blue Ko Ko Bop drink Suho mixes and the members drink is supposed to counteract the effects of the drugs in their system. That is why they act so out of it and in a drugged state in "Ko Ko Bop." As you can see all of the stories in EXO's MVs are connected. We just have to pay close attention to every detail and put the pieces together. Here is a list of the members and what their powers are to help you pinpoint the powers being used in their MVs and live performances. EXO-K 💦 Suho (Kim JunMyeon) is the leader of the group and he is a lead vocalist -- his power is the ability to control water (Fun fact: Suho in Korean means guardian, as in the guardian of EXO. That's why as the leader of EXO, his stage name is Suho) 💡Baekhyun is a main vocalist and his superpower is the ability to control light 🔥Chanyeol is the main rapper and lead vocalist -- his power is the ability to control fire and his spirit animal is the phoenix. 🌏D.O. (Do KyungSoo) is a main vocalist and his power is the ability to control earth (dirt) which gives him strength/force ☄Kai (Kim JongIn) is a main dancer, lead vocalist and sub-rapper and his power is teleportation. (Kai means opening as in a door or gateway, so his stage name symbolizes his role within EXO's storyline.) 🌪Sehun is the youngest member of the group and he is a main rapper, main dancer and a vocalist -- his power is the ability to control wind EXO-M ❄Xiumin (Kim MinSeok) is the oldest member of the group and he is a lead vocalist and lead rapper and his power is the ability to control snow/ice (frost) 🦄 Lay (Zhang Yixing) is the Chinese member of the group, he is a main dancer, lead vocalist and rapper -- his power is the ability to heal anything. 🌩 Chen (Kim JongDae) is a main vocalist and his power is the ability to control thunder/lightning/electricity (As you can see, Xiumin and Chen were given stage names that sounded more Chinese so they would fit in better in EXO-M because they are the Korean members of the Chinese group) The Chinese members who were all in this MV, but have now left the group: 🐉 Kris was the leader of EXO-M he was a main rapper and vocalist -- his power was the ability to fly and his spirit animal was a dragon 💭 Luhan was a main vocalist and his power was telekinesis (The ability to control things with his mind) ⏰Tao (Z. Tao) was a lead rapper and vocalist and the martial artist of the group, so he did the flips and stunts in the group's routines. His power was the ability to control time.

omg! i really touched and feel respect to ppl who watch exo's old mv for the first time... it's like - you have so much gapsp to catch, exo's were different back then, all the fandom was different.. it's like '' how can they do that and catch up now?'' i hope you'll be able to understand all the hints and theories that in the mv (and between both korean and chinese mvs that has conecting between them...back than all the theory was smth really imoportant to them and to us. and it's afeect the mv till this days. btw- kris left exo without any word in the midle of 'overdoes' promotions and 10 days before their first world tour. they also made this comeback (it was mini album) right after growl era.. just imagune the presure on them to do well. they've worked really really hard! that year they entered forbs magazine's list of number one influancers !!! even tho ppl said 2014 was an hard year to exo (they went through few stuff that year) they still kept their palce and spot as number one and trends seters and records seters

they used to make 2 versions, one for each sub unit. so the mvs back then had the exo-k version and the exo-m version, where kris, luhan and tao appear! i love this song so freaking much and i miss this era of exo so much. i love that you guys did your research after not recognising members; a lot of reactors never go that far when they react to ot12 exo music videos and/or don’t even realise there are twelve members present in their old stuff. to be fair though, there are mvs like “call me baby” with 10 members present (tao being the tenth member because kris had already left and luhan was injured) and that does tend to confuse the shite outta people. Exo was 12. 3 of them, all Chinese left the group and SM. They filed a lawsuit on SM. Back then foreign idols have a rough road especially Chinese. Unlike today. Some kind of mistreatment happened. First foreign idol is Hankyung (Hangeng, Chinese name) former Super Junior. He filed a lawsuit too. Korea and China wasn't in a good term back then. Thus reason why there were lots schedules Hankyung can't join. He had more rules on him than otehrs. He even had to perform with full face mask on stage because of the problems between both country. You can still find those performances when he had a mask on. He had it so rough. Tougher than any idols has faced. Anyways that was 2009. Suju is all good. They still in contact and didn't cut their ties. And former exos too are doing so good in China eventho there's no signs that they are all still in contact. I think they don't.

You need to listen to their solo projects. Especially Kris Wu's . He has a song with Travis Scott, " Deserve, 18, or Freedom" that one features Jhené Aiko. chanyeol solos as well, "Freal Luv" or "Faded" not his song but he was featured on it.
