After hearing Martin and Gary during their time it's hard to appreciate the next generation of male singers doing the same genre that these two were doing. They set a high standard. I used to save my lunch money just to watch their concerts.

This is very emotional because when Martin N. go through trials in life Gary is the one who helped him get back on his feet again. They are really like brothers after that dark times of Martin and from then on one help the other overcome trials. Songs they perform is somewaht talking to each other in reality.

This happened when Martin's life is in disarray bec of his relationships, he hit rock bottom & his career suffered. Gary is a very compassionate friend and that time was on his good prime, career wise. There was a time when Gary felt inferior to Martin, vocal wise he admits. But Gary's dancing & personality is what hits the crowd. These two are a gem to behold.

Listening to you, Waleska and Efra, critique the performance made me realize how amazing your parents raised you. Congrats to your parents!

Gary V will always have a special segment of his concert that would include a medley of worship songs. I've been to quite a few, he would do that bec he believes no matter what you religion you have, God speaks to you the same way, especially if youre going through a difficult time in your life, it lets you connect with him. I've also noticed that on his live performances especially when he's dancing Gary's voice is on point regardless of exhaustion, but when the worship segment come, there's a bit of cracking, it seemed he's holding he's tears trying to concentrate because he knows he's a vessel of worship and comfort to those who needs it the most.

You got it, you've unlocked the secret behind the musicality of the Philippines. Many continue to be baffled, not all have managed to "hit the nail on the head". The evolution goes on and it has been an amazing ride. 😊

If i'm not wrong, Martin was already a superstar when Gary V joined the industry.they were each others' fiercest rivals since then.they're both excellent singers,songwriters,and were releasing hit songs after hit songs during their prime.some would say that Gary V had an upperhand because of his upbeat/danceable songs which appeal to the younger audience.for me, both are icons.

I was fortunate enough to watch this live. My first time to see martin perform live and i was just so blown away. He does live up to his title of “Concert King”. Martin is a beast on stage.

these 2 guys influenced me so much that I can sing all of their songs by heart. most of their songs are not about how they sang them, it the lyrics. you see Filipinos love singing, we even love it if the lyrics are meaningful. It seems to me that Efra is a master in expounding philosophical ideas (life itself in general) while Wale is a master in musical technicalities. She's very pretty today. Not that she was not before -- I just love simplicity. I notice she loves expressing herself artistically thru her make up. I like these siblings a lot. I can listen to them talk for hours without getting bored.

One of the reasons why the musicality of Filipinos is so remarkable and has strong impact is the fact that Filipinos' faith and their spirituality in general are deeply rooted to The One Creator who is The Source Of their Talent, when they sing they are instantly connected to "The Source" because they acknowledge The Source they entrust every performance. This is the reason why most of the reactors of Filipino Singing Contents are able to notice and feel the very emotion of every performing artist, really hearfelt. I can say it boils down to one thing that Filipino Race in general is Musically Gifted. Imagine Mr Gary V patting your back and reminding you like a big brother..."but then He reminds us all the time buddy". Gary's words pierces right through the heart of even the hardest man.

Now that i think about it. Growing up having them all the time on tv every weekend ive never really appreciated them as i do now thanks for making me realize that. After being here for a long time ive never been too eager to hear daddy herrera with his insight on this video.

Hi Waleska, the thing you probably can’t visibly make out is God’s anointing radiating through Gary and Martin. They can be talented but without God’s anointing, they’ll just be singing lyrics. I remember Kuh Ledesma (one of Philippines’ most prominent singers) was asked in an interview, what is something that you don’t want to lose and she said “God’s anointing” for without it, she’ll just be singing mere words and I think that’s just powerful

Context : These are 2 of the artists I frequently hear growing up in the 80s & having 2 brothers. But, most especially Gary Valenciano, and for his song TAKE ME OUT OF THE DARK. We have more often than not Catholic schools in the Philippines & part of catechism, and towards high-school, we go on religious retreats. A weekend away sponsored by the school, for religious instruction, contemplation, & meditation. That song, is more often than not, played at these retreats. Most especially when you write and exchange palanca or affirmation letter, with friends or your family members. Many of Gary V's songs are Praise & Charismatic songs. If you take a listen to his version of LEAD ME LORD - its a hard hit to your heart, when you have a very deep conversation with GOD in a retreat. Not to mention he matriculated from the same Catholic institution of De La Salle. He's one of our heroes. Gary's music just hits most Filipinos who have been to these activities, very deeply and emotionally. I tear up all the time. Because it means a lot and I have very touching memories of all the retreats I have been to. Thank you for loving our artists. It means a lot to have them seen more, by the world.

Most of the youtube reactors are into the new singers from the Philippines, only looking into who can hit high notes or give the best runs. It's nice to see a channel like this to react to the legends/veterans and to our bands, they are the pillars of OG OPM and then how Sarah G changed the scene for the new singers to challenge themselves and give us the modern OPM.

Proud to say that I was able to witness both the Philippines’ concert king Martin Nievera and concert queen Pops Fernandez. They were the first concert I was able to watch during my teens and I thought that all concerts are the same but to my dismay, it’s not. The reason y they’re called the Philippines’ concert king and queen. It’s phenomenal. Martin is superb!!!! He’s a must watch.

I grew up singing the songs of these 2 legends. I wanted so badly to watch this concert, but alas, I was deep in the trenches of training to be a doctor back then. These three songs hold very special places in my heart, apart from having sung them countless times in my youth. "I Will Be Here" is my love song to my wife. I sing "I'll Be There (for You)" to my daughter as lullaby (and by extension, to my wife, as well). And "Take Me Out of th Dark" - well, I sing it as you do, to ask for guidance, strength and courage, especially in these times. A song for my wife; a song for my child; a song for our Lord. Thank you, Sir Gary, Sir Martin, Waleska and Efra, thank you...

i remember, when we were younger, there was a strong rivalry between Gary's fans VS Martin's fans - both claiming that their idol was better.than the other camp's idol. i was a Gary fan myself. it was.funny to remember. then they would do collabs in concerts.and on TV, and they would both laugh it off.
