Its not a tradition its the couples choice. There are diff traditions in every region on how to celebrate wedding but not this one. Here in the Phils you can celebrate your wedding the way you like it. It doesnt matter if its an old tradition or as unique or extreme you want it.

This way of wedding entrance is not the norms but wedding here is what and how the bride and groom prefer it to be..there are brides and grooms and their entourage, dances while entering the church..😅

it never used to be "do it the way you like it", though. just 25 years ago, it was usually only the customary rings, arras, cord, veil and candles at the ceremony, and then the money dance, suman and kalamay auction, feeding each other with cake and wine, doves released from a papier mache bell and other local traditions. and then social media came up and people went, "oh i want something like that", or "i want something different". new stuff becoming the norm seem to be the wacky poses after the formal shots and the bridesmaids and groomsmen having dance numbers. i miss the charm of simpler old weddings where the event is more about the families and the community, and couples have little leeway besides the color motif. but i have to admit today's wedding albums look much better and are more inviting to browse through than the old ones.

Music is an integral part of Philippine life. We don't have to be a pro at it but we do appreaciate music and because our voice is an instrument that is innate, we make use of it. So singing in weddings, in school graduation, even in funerals is just a form of self expression--expressing our joy, our jubilation, our victory, and even our grief.

I miss being a wedding organizer in the Philippines. There's nowhere else celebrate weddings like we do. It is always an honor to be working with the couple and to all the team to make this moment special and memorable. Most of all, the fulfillment of making the event successful is the most rewarding feeling. When you see the couple and all the guests happy faces make all the stress paid off. CONGRATS TO THE COUPLE! Wishing you a happy forever.. best wishes!

Yes, we have a playlist! I used to organize weddings for our church. And one of my questions to the bride & groom when planning is if either one or both of them wants to sing a song while the bride walks down the aisle, or if they want their family/friend to do it. And also during the reception if they want to sing or a family/relative/friend would dedicate a song to the couple. That is if they don't want to invite a band.😊 So with that we have a playlist: 1. Wedding entourage song 2. Bride's song as she walks down the aisle 3. Instrumental song used as buffer during the wedding 4. Celebratory song as they are announced as an official couple 5. Tiktok songs for the reception as the entourage and couple dances 6. 1st dance 7. Money dance 8. Song dedications...😅

I think this is a modern adaptation of a Filipino tradition called harana, where a man seranade his beloved as part of courtship. In some places, the person being seranade also sings back. So I'm not surprised that it's adapted in weddings too.

Its a natural tradition here in the Phils. But before they only hired singers or church choires to sing, but now, its been upgraded and the wedding couples are the one singing and giving the message of love for the bride or groom! Very touching and lovely, right? Thats what we are Filipinos, loving and caring!

Not everyone does this. We Filipinos just grew up loving how to sing although some not that great but with practice, they become one. Also, in the Philippines the younger ones are being coaxed by their parents to perform or sing with prizes during Christmas or get together. 😊

IKAW is the most famous wedding song.

The first featured wedding happened in province of Bohol she's a day winner of Tawag Ng Tanghalan, really a fairy tale story of their own having endured teenage parenthood they both strive on and continued their studies despite all financial burdens being both a working students and at the same time parents and through their sheer determination or the loved they have shown.later the bride was able convinced her father{an army colonelf but at that time is still a major serving at U.N contingent assigned in Syria)for a lending hand since the support was cutoff due to early pregnancies, maybe due the love of the grand child or a fatherly love the colonel father gave in. Now the bride is a teacher and the husband is a seafarer and this is their church wedding.

I hate to break it to you, but having a singing bride, groom, or both during the wedding is actually uncommon here in the Philippines, although it does happen for a few to some engaged couples, but it's just that it's uncommon, less to non-traditional, and a more or much more modern to contemporary practice here in the Philippines for the bride, groom, or both of them to sing or to do the singing of secular wedding, wedding-related, or romantic songs during their own or the wedding, wedding ceremony, wedding proper, and/or the Mass itself. It can and does usually happen though mostly during and at the reception or the reception area or venue after the wedding, wedding ceremony, wedding proper, and/or the Mass held inside or at the basilica, cathedral, church, chapel, shrine, or wedding venue, and after-wedding receptions is usually held in hotels, resorts, or the residence of the couple or of one of the couple's family or clan member, such as their nuclear family members or parents or their extended family members. They only commonly sing when they do sing church, religious, or worship songs, some answers or responses during the wedding, wedding ceremony, wedding proper, and/or the Mass, or a verse from the Book of Psalms in unison during the wedding, wedding ceremony, wedding proper, and/or the Mass with most to all of the other people inside or at the basilica, cathedral, church, chapel, shrine, or the wedding venue that witnesses the wedding. The more common practice is having another singer or more, such as a choir or chorale group, and the assigned commentator and Psalmist to sing or do the singing of a few to most of the singing parts during the wedding, wedding ceremony, wedding proper, and/or the Mass, such as the leading of the singing of church, religious, or worship songs, some answers or responses during the wedding, wedding ceremony, wedding proper, and/or the Mass, or the verses from the Book of Psalms, or the singing of secular wedding, wedding-related, or romantic songs for the engaged and/or already newlywed couple. By the way, these are only mostly true among the predominant Roman Catholic Christian Filipinos, which make up or comprise more or less than 80% of the total population of Filipinos. Other denominations, sects, branches, churches, religions, beliefs, belief systems, traditions, and/or sociocultural, religious, spiritual, native, indigenous, tribal, or ethnolinguistic communities do have their own ways, manners, forms, styles, cultures, traditions, customs, beliefs, procedures, or processes of and for weddings, wedding ceremonies, wedding or wedding-related rituals, or even before, during, and after the wedding proper, which I am personally not the right person to talk or discuss about, even generally but most especially in detail, because I am baptized and grew up most of my life as a Roman Catholic Christian Filipino from predominantly Roman Catholic Christian Filipino clans and local community, and I am less to not knowledgeable, aware, informed, educated, and/or immersed, not even for at least enough, with the other ones and how they do them.

In my rural hometown, our elders would settle indifferences through singing out their thoughts. They would do this infront of everyone while drinking coconut wine and a couple of guitarists. The tones were just repetitive and had a common chorus where everyone as well as the audience would sing. Everybody and everyone with issues would come forward and sing their hearts out. You can see and hear anger, disgust and all sorts at the start and would notice if issues are sorted out because everyone are already laughing and even dancing while hugging or a fist fights and running around if not. The last one i encountered such was on the first grand family reunion i attended. Three or four family generations attended. I noticed all of the really old ones were on a corner sitting together but were quiet. Then in a few while i heard loud voices singing and crying. I went to see what was happening and saw entirety of the event. That was like 5 hours long if i remember it right. I was on my early teens that time. That was the late 1990's.

I have experience with my uncles wake, since when he's alive he used to be a musician, and his kids and grandchildren are musically inclined so every night a live band performs to keep the people awake.. ^_^ .. some people would also put karaoke during vigil/wake, not all but it does happens "only in the Philippines"

It is very important in a wedding to make it special wedding day is to have a singer to sing live in their own choice. It is not a Filipino tradition wedding for the couple to sing during their wedding ceremony but you can arrange it to be memorable🤔🤭😀

Most common wedding here in the Philippines is that there will be a singer who will sang the favorite song of the bride or couple or choosen song for the bride while walking on aisle... my uncle sang a song while his older sister walking at the aisle before.. others are their relatives etc.

I didn’t do this but my brother and sister in law did! And their friends in the wedding entourage serenaded them during the reception.

Even in wake/funerals, we sing a lot. With regard to singers, Regine sang "Pag-ibig" and Lea sang "I do" in their wedding.
