In short, most of the songs shown here, in some way have some connection with Prabhu Deva. He is and always be the Indian MJ.

Prabhu Deva's pedigree IS dance first. His father was a choreographer for the Tamil Film Industry and he grew up in dance and with dance. His primary inspiration is MJ (I'm sure you can tell) and he was one of the primary forces behind the pop lock hiphop craze in India that you see today. Half the dance judges on Indian dance shows name his as their inspiration as do the participants themselves. He changed the face of dance in cinema in India to be honest. There were decent dancers before him but he raised the bar so high up that he became the aspiration. He also knows Bharatnatyam a fair bit though he moved to Western styles.

You should check out Main Aisa Kyun Hoon (from the movie Lakshya), starring Hrithik Roshan, choreographed by Prabhu Deva, music by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, sung by Shaan. It's a dance number but the song is very much not the electronic stuff you guys aren't fond of - it's like a mix between Will Smith's 90s songs and James Bond? Lol, it's tough to describe. Some of the most creative choreo and scene staging to come out of Bollywood for sure. And Hrithik also has a very different look in the scene.

It's a shame that the choreographers mostly don't dance in front of the camera. There are many choreographers that dance brilliantly but they don't get the appreciation and popularity as the actors do.
