Looking at the sonic characteristics rather than every function here. But some worthy of note that I've not included here are the envelopes, LFOs and modulation.
The M is more flexible than the 3 LFOs and 4 envelopes may have you believe. Everything is so flexible you essentially have 5 LFOs and 5 envelopes ... so watch this in conjunction with my M walkthrough to get a full rundown of all the functions. Iridium is more flexible with 6 LFOs plus complex modulator and I think 6 envelopes... but its closer than you might think.. it's so hard to demo all that on a video without bringing on a severe dose of OCD... so I stuck to the sound quality instead (which you can't read about, and I've not demo'd previously).
If you're having difficulty with the decision then hopefully this'll be a little help.
