Don't touch the 1.8 as a five-door. It's under powered. Check the spare wheel as at least three times I've found the spare doesn't match or fit. The fogs are useful as cornering lights. If the transmission starts to make a grinding noise, switch to 4WD. That should cure it. For a more permanent cure spray the 4WD/2WD change shaft that goes into the front diff. HID lights are no problem for the shaken, providing the bulb colour hasn't been changed. If a previous owner has ripped out an expensive speaker system, changing the door cards is a snap. Front brake plungers may be difficult to free, but just keep at it. The power steering belt may scream as you go through deep water, but the belt is not that difficult to adjust. However, the timing belt can be an issue to change, so try not to get one approaching 100,000km. At 100,000km, you can find it misfires and finally goes to three cylinders. Easy fix; you can soon figure out which cylinder is playing up. The stem from the transformer to the spark plug needs changing. But you might get away with binding the stem with insulating tape.
