Season finale!! Well guys we made it to the end of season 5. This season was honestly my favorite leading up to this point. And this episode itself is probably one of the best of the series. Stannis the Mannis came to an end at the hands of both himself and Brienne. I think a number of different decisions could've changed the outcome for him. Reek is no longer Reek. He Theoned out and saved tf outta Sansa. Still can't beleive it. Meryn Trant got what he had coming to him, albeit at the cost of Aryas eyesight. Jamie told his daughter he loved her about 10 seconds before she died at the hands of Mistress Sands. Tyrion, Missendei, and Greyworm are gonna try to salvage what they can from the city of Mareen, while Jorah and Dario go and try to save Khaleesi, whose been kidnapped by some random Dothraki. Cersei is dealing with the most at kingslanding, but at least she has the mountain now. Which is more than the nightswatch can say, considering they killed Jon Snow. The only person at Castle Black who stood a chance. Anyways yall, this epiosde was WILD. This season was WILD. All of it. Wild. Excited to get into season 6 and excited to see all you there. Much love yall. Pce

I mean at this point at least in the show (i didn't read the books) it doesn't seem like anyone cares. Pretty much everybody knows the truth even if it's not official and everyone who still supports the Crown either has a direct alliance with the Lannisters or needs them for their own gains and since Robert's brothers are defeated there is not even really another claimant who would get support, maybe only if Daenerys sailed to Westeros immediately. North - controlled by allied Boltons, Vale - controlled by Littlefinger who doesn't care about legitimacy, Riverlands - controlled by allied Freys, Reach - controlled by allied Tyrells who also have a stake in Margeary staying queen, Dorne - torn between Doran and Sand Snakes, Doran allied while Sand Snakes rebellious, Stormlands - in rebellion through Stannis, after Stannis is defeated it's pretty much the only kingdom that would have a problem with Tommen not being Baratheon but they should be well aware of that already, Iron Islands - in rebellion. So really the seven kingdoms are controlled by whoever Lannisters pick, Tommen would just stay King unless Kevan would make a play for power but again that would be opposed by the Tyrells.
@Aewon84
@Aewon84 Жыл бұрын
@@Mason1968PL The way the rules of succession works is if there are no direct heir they go back in the family tree until they find a branch that leads to a living heir. In this case that's the Lannisters, incidently. Others could stake a claim, however. The Velaryons, for example, could use their kinship to the Targaryens to stake their claim. In fact, it is very likely that the lords and ladies of Westeros would rule that Robert's reign was illegitimate. All his allies are gone. Both his brothers commited treason after his death. Not to mention, he was a crappy king. My guess is it would be between the Velaryons for their Valyrian blood, the Hightowers for their long history (their long-standing alliance with the Faith could also work in their favour), or the Tyrells because at the moment they're the best placed to grab ultimate power. There is no way they would accept Tommen as king if his illegitimacy became official.
@TrollinFromFlask
@TrollinFromFlask 10 ай бұрын
@@Aewon84At that point I think it would just devolve into a free for all, theirs only so far back alot of them would be willing to go back just to justify someone else's rule. Only reason Robert was taken seriously as king by the more powerful houses is his close alliance with Ned and John Aran (or whatever his name was) that alone gave him his real claim, strength, that andthe fact that he was proven in war. No other house had that kind of relationship with powerful allies like he did, him being the technical next claimant after the Targaryen's is complete irrelevant to his real claim, but I guess it might look good on paper compared to all the other houses.

@@Aewon84Why would the Lannisters be the claimants to Robert's throne if it is confirmed that his children by Cersei aren't actually his? With Stannis and Renly dead, wouldn't the throne go to the next-in-line Barathron uncle or cousin?

I have no sympathy for Cersei. She would have happily watched Margaery Tyrell do the walk of shame with that smug little smirk of hers, and afterward she'd have plastered on a big, phony smile and feigned sympathy to Margaery's face for Tommin's sake while she figured out a way to make things even worse.

I just KNOW you're gonna enjoy Season 6 because you guys said you like that the story doesn't drag on and gets straight to the point. Fast, quick and direct. That's how I like watching movies and shows as well. Don't like the dramatic soap opera crap that drags in for five episodes to get to the point. And Season 6 is my favorite one of them all. Again, can't say much except that the story flows great and strong. I wish I was sitting there with you guys to be in the presence of your reactions for what's to come. Stannis The Goddamn Mannis! Truly one of the best written characters/storylines in the show personally. We truly saw a man that was doing the right thing for the realm slowly decay and make tough decisions (some right some wrong) to become king. Stannis never wanted to become king but if he didn't then it would only inspire more to break and rig the rules like the Lannisters did. The irony, sadness and beauty of his realizations when he smirks figuring out that he is not the chosen one when the Bolton army charges at him yet he chooses to fight anyway because HE WILL ALWAYS MOVE FORWARD. Legend.

I am not a Cersei fan. Not from the books to my first viewing of the show up til now. But, her walk of shame is BRUTAL to watch no matter how many times I’ve seen it & shows how skilled an actor Lena Heady is for making folks feel compassion for a character they hate. Yes, the face Arya wore to be able to k!ll Meryn Trant was that of the dying girl Arya gave water to earlier in the season. I think all the faces in the House of Black & White (& the faces that they wear) are from people the Faceless Men have assassinated or helped humanely k!ll if they went to the House of B&W asking for death. This is also speculation, but I think Jaqen & the Waif drugged Arya just before she went blind & some of the faces she saw on the dead Jaqen were hallucinations, that’s why she was able to see Jaqen dead on the floor but alive at the same time & also how she was able to see her own face on the body.

The faceless men are a group of assassins that came to be back in old Valyria. They were all slaves and there is a theory that they caused the doom of Valyria. Regarding Arya, they wanted to recruit her from the beginning (maybe because she has stark blood which has old gods magic in it) that's why Jaqen gave her those 3 kills, to entice her and show the power of violence etc. And "Jaqen" is just a face. You can't really tell how many faceless men using Jaqen's face we've seen so far. That guy that killed himself on this episode was probably just the last faceless guy to interact with Arya, he took responsability for her blunder of stealing a face to kill someone for personal reasons.

Little backstory on me. Of course I'm transgender as my name on my profile says. When I was 12 years old they had me locked up and gave me two options to go to boot camp where they would shave my hair of or shave it off voluntarily and go to a "treatment center" where they would deal with me being trans. So of course I felt a kinship towards my Queen and her walk of shame. She was my favorite since episode 1 and to see her go through something so similar to my experience was a bit sad but also kind of cool. I already identified with her just from her personality and this just made me love her more.

38:30 I was SUPER HYPED that they did that to Cersei 😂😂. People have extremely short memories. Cersei is evil, and has a completely evil heart there is no way i could develop even an inkling of sympathy for her no matter what she goes through. Thats what makes her a great character tho, shes very easy to hate. Her character is written excellently.

Plus the sweet sweet cosmic justice that it was her who put the High Sparrow in charge in the first place, thinking she was untouchable, ruining the lives of the Tyrell’s just for fun and jealousy basically. She totally had it coming

Mike definitely has a lot of empathy and compassion. I think a lot of people enjoyed Cerseis walk of shame, some people didn’t enjoy it, but found it as good karma for all the evil she’s done. I haven’t heard anyone feel bad for Cersei like Mike. I’m actually quite touched. I’m curious to see if his opinion changes as the series continues

You made a comment a few eps ago where you said the religion stuff was bunk because no one believes in it, but Stannis’ wife is one of the believers, like the red woman, high sparrow, and many other lords and commoners alike. The mind control wasn’t magic, just religion. It was easy to go along with the thought of sacrificing her non-believer daughter for her faith in the abstract because she didn’t like her daughter very much, resented that she never had a son, and saw Shereen as spoiled goods because of the scars. But in the end her mother’s love won out (too late) when literally faced with the reality of losing her.

Naw, back when this aired, I didn't know ANYONE who was happy or hyped about anything Cersei was going thru in the capture of the Sparrows, at least once she was drinking the floor water in an earlier episode. No matter to what degree you didn't like Cersei, we all seemed to start finding that we were feeling bad for her after that. So by the time you get to the walk of shame? Most people seemed to just watch it in stunned, disgusted, angry sympathy, and a common phrase was, "I don't really like Cersei, but this is too much" or "no one deserves this" or "F these Sparrows." I remember thinking how much worse religious zealots who punish and torture people in the name of supposed benevolence and morality are than the Lannisters, who are selfish, horrible people but are at least motivated by things we all can relate to, such as grief, passion, a need for a lasting legacy, etc. EDIT: Having said all that, I'm sure there were some weirdos cheering lol

The intro was epic! Poor Cercei indeed. No matter how much Cercei is despised in the show or how aweful her character is, the grand majority of people who have watched the show feel bad for her during her "walk of atonement"... absolutely brutal to watch. The Sparrows all but solidified their position as one of the most hated at this point, and lets not forget that stupid septa yelling "shame" behind Cercei.
