Ang sarili natin ay templo ng Panginoon Diyos. Huwag saktan. Ang Panginoon Jesus tinubos niya ang ating kasalanan. Against ako diyan.... Kasalanan sa Diyos ang panata na yan.

The Catholic church has let it members down by not teaching against this barbnaric practice. It is not supported by scripture and only remains today because of an inaccurate understanding of who did the suffering for sin. "He (Jesus) was bruised for our iniquities" according to the Bible. That man striking that person with a belt should be arrested. That preacher who endorsed this will burn in hell for perpetrating this practice. Jesus paid it all, Man can't pay for his sin, Jesus paid for what we will never be able to. So sad that this is an accepted practice...but then, it's what happens in third world countries. People who do this should NOT be held in high esteem or praised...they should be pitied.

The Catholic church has done an awful lot more damage than this. This is nothing compared to the damage to the country as a whole the Church has done. Only now - after decades of legal blocking by the church - is birth control finally legal and with it the possibility that the Philippines may eventually get out of the poverty caused by the poor having 7 or 8 kids.. But it's taken so long and the church used it's army of lawyers to stop it. Officially the audited 2022 assets of the church stand at US$5 billion so you think they might give some of it to the poor. Of course in fairness they do have to keep a lot in reserve to settle the legal claims from the systemic rape and child abuse by their priests - from New York Times : To date, Catholic dioceses in the U.S. have paid over $3 billion in compensation to sexual abuse victims.
