Markevicz never took her seat in the UK Parliament as it was a foreign occupation in Ireland, so she took office in the newly formed Dáil Éireann in 1919

Fairview Park has changed over the years with a gym close to the DART Staton on Clontarf Road and the undeground tunnel to Dublin Port completed to ease the traffic burden. Recently bicycle lanes have been added. THe comment regarding trash is not fair. Having lived in the United States many metorpolitan areas are not only unpleasant, very unsafe and filled with so much trash.

Hello Clare! Julie here. I saw your multiple comments and decided to rewatch the video before responding to them just to make sure I remember exactly what we did and said in the video. Anytime we travel to a new country, there will always be some culture shocks for sure, and maybe they translate in the video as negative or complaining, which was not our intention here. I'm sure you're right that there are many unpleasant metropolitan areas in the US that are unsafe and filled with trash. I've been to NYC plenty of times, and it doesn't always look pristine and smell like roses! :D. Fortunately, most of the places Michael & I have lived in North Carolina and Florida have been filled with clean, beautiful parks. The cities we've lived in have truly taken pride in maintaining clean & safe green spaces for the public to use, and maybe we are a little bit spoiled by that. I did enjoy Fairview Park very much, and I hope that it did not sound like I was complaining.

THeowners of Clontarf Castle sold off a lot the adjacent land. Sadly without these grounds it is not a beautiful as it once was. There is an old protestant graveyard outside the grounds. The castle itself has been expanded extensively to accomoodate the expanision of the castle business.

Hi Clare! How sad that the adjacent lands were sold off! I would have loved to have been able to visit the protestant graveyard, but I didn't even know about it until you left us this comment. I can only imagine how amazing the castle must have been back in its day when it had all of the beautiful surrounding grounds.

The Baths are not on the river it is on Dublin Bay. These were public baths that fell into disuse. The facility was later purchased and refurbished into a private facility. The restaurant is a big source of income. Not an optimal eating experience. French Fries to americans are what you get at fast food restaurants and are prepared very differently from CHIPS. Chips are par boiled potatoes that are then fried. Usually served with salt and vinegar. Lucky you all these company expense and do not sense they appreciate the experience very well.

Hi Clare! I apologize for Michael's mistake, he was assuming that was a river, and neither of us looked it up to correct ourselves. I didn't get to see The Baths unfortunately, as it was a work dinner that did not include spouses. He actually spoke really highly of the food that he ate there though. He admitted he was assuming that the chips would be French fries, and explained how they were different than he expected but also really good. We both were very grateful for being able to take this trip to Ireland and enjoyed & appreciated every minute of the trip. We stayed a few days after the work meetings were over to see Galway and County Clare, which we enjoyed much more. Michael is a descendant of the O'Briens, so he of course wanted to see as many sites in County Clare as possible. He even teared up when he got to see the O'Bryan tower :D. All in all, it was an amazing trip and we enjoyed it so much! Ireland is a beautiful & incredible country full of so much amazing history and we hope to come back some day and see more!

Comments regarding the taste of fish illustrate lack of food education. Each fish has its own taste.

Anytime we travel to a new country, there will always be some culture shocks for sure, and maybe they translate in the video as negative or complaining, which was not our intention here especially in regards to the food. I think as I'm understanding Michael's comments, he was trying to say that he doesn't eat a lot of fish except for fried fish (which is probably the most common way it is served in the US, and neither of us particularly like fried fish). He was a little shocked at the different preparation here, and the smell initially was strange to him, but he did say repeatedly that it was good. He didn't love it, but he was clearly pleasantly surprised at how much better it tasted than he expected it to. He was definitely stream of consciousness speaking, and perhaps that didn't translate the way he meant it to, but I definitely got the impression both in the moment and now rewatching the video, that he was trying to express that he liked it much more than he thought that he would.
