Yes I know what you mean. My wife sent this to me and Messenger and she knows that I play the guitar and that not too long go well lost my dad. She knows my dad was a salesman. He was a damn good one! But he always didn't have time for us even though there was six of us. So that part doesn't really fit, but the rest of it fits so well but I had to play a three times this morning. And it brings tears to my eyes each time. But I know he's waiting for me just in the next room and one day I'll be there. And I do love my kids. My daughter just got really mad at me because I was chasing a dream and she felt like it was costing her because I wasn't there even though she is now a full-grown adult giving me three granddaughters and a loving husband. So I had to send it to her too. It's amazing how every once in a while and I was comes out with a song that just touches you right to the bottom of makes you you! It's not something we get over is something we get through which is another song by another artist by the name of Willie Nelson. God bless you

I'm sure chances are slim that Walker Hayes will see or read this message , but I just wanted to say I love your music. This song is my favorite one of yours. It reminds me of my dad. I lost him last year. I bought him a Dean Markley 12 string several years ago for fathers day. He played for me all time when I was growing up. I can't play that well and I would love to give you this guitar just to see you play it in a video. My family and I live in Tullahoma. I know you are around here all the time. I hope one day to run into you ,so I can tell you in person what this means to me.

Mr. Hayes helped us find two homes here in Mobile. I didn't know him that well, but he made a strong impression on my heart, hated to hear today that he has passed. When I first started hearing your songs about five or six years ago, Walker, I asked if the two of you were related. He smiled and kind of blushed, said, You've heard of my son? He was proud of you and your family, talked about what a good father you are. God Bless!

I was a single mom for years, no family around to help and struggled every day for them. I would go to bed crying sometimes feeling like a failure. My kids are in their 20s now and recently my 24 yr old called me up to come talk to him. He said he did the math and realized when I was his age I had a 6 yr old and a 4 yr old and he told me how amazed he is that I was able to give them a good life because he can barely take care of himself. First time my son ever saw me cry. From this parent to you youngsters, please go tell your parents how much you appreciate what they went through for you- they need to hear it!

The wife and I just passed up a chance to see Walker in Chattanooga a few weeks ago, all I knew of his music at the time was Fancy Like and AA. Missing that show is turning into one of my biggest regrets even if it would have meant having to sit through seeing Kane Brown, I guess we could have left before he came on. We should have gone. Call your local radio stations and request they play Walkers other songs besides Fancy Like and AA, though they are great as well, get his other music out there too.

I adore Walker Hayes and the fact he is such a great husband and daddy. Had no idea he grew up an hour from us. I first wasn't sure what to think about this song the first time I heard it and then I figured it out. He is a lot like his daddy even though he lost his father earlier this year. This is a really powerful song. Walker I think your dad would be so proud of the man you have turned out to be. And you are also a hell of a musician!!!!

What a TRIBUTE to his father! The guitar doesn't fall too far from the briefcase...that caught me in my chest! Songwriters like this are special...Paisley, Urban, Stapleton*(rarified air there)....the ability to write summer party anthems, catchy tunes you can't get out of your head and to throw a Christian curveball...we need more of it! Keep God and family in the music you create! I don't go to church, but artists putting theirs into the music I listen to sure makes me feel like I'm there. And I'm grateful 🙏 🥲.

You are so very special. Right to the heart. If you haven't heard Jimmy Buffett's early stuff, take a listen. His grandfather, a seafarer, was very special to him and influenced him greatly. The Captain &the Kid, Son of a Son of a Sailor, and others may resonate w you. He is from Mobile and did time in Nashville. Wasn't accepted in Nashville and moved to the Keys and the rest, as they say, is history. If anyone only knows his commercial stuff about 🍹and 🍔 and 🦈and 🌋, you're missing out on a lot.

I hope that your dad got to hear this before he passed, I really do. I can relate to this... I hated my dad for being in the military and being away for so much of my childhood. I hated watching the news, every single time he sailed away on the med cruises. Always worried, never knowing if he was safe. Was a simpler, pre-internet world where letters were how we talked to the men serving half a world away. And now I became him, first chasing the flag when I enlisted into the Army. Then marching to the war drums when I fought in round two of his war in Iraq. And now I have my own sons and I get it. I just hope my sons will sometimes understand... and gods willing, I hope they can ignore the war drums and pick a safer profession. Maybe be that realtor or musician.

im literally crying rn. just discovered this song today. im a girl but im like the spitting image of my pops. he's in his 60s now, and there was a time that i used to hate him because he was always shouting at my siblings and i, and seemed like he was always mad. looking back, it was because of how stressful and tiring working is. i thank God for He had worked in our family. God changed my heart, and eventually, changed my pops. im so thankful for my father's life. He has been a good provider, role model to us and a man of God. i thank God that my pops is now reaping the blessings. i know one thing that he is still waiting for is that for us, his children, to finally settle down (get married) and have his grandkids. i hope soon he can also enjoy being a granddad.

When he had to leave for a week at a time and his keys and work boots coming through the door always made us run. He was the best ❤. And I look at my dad so differently now as he is 87 and all he sacrifice he wasn't the best at being there. But he was there he was not going to have nothing gevwas going to make sure he had all his kids set up he worked for the future not just living day by day. Sacraf8ce he made. My dad was always my hero, even thou he was not the perfect dad! I found alot out as I got older. But he was a good man, even thou my mom did not realize that. I look back at 56 and realized I am alot like him in so many ways. But when I really truly look back he was the briefcase. Love you dad for all you tryed to be. I miss you !!!

I firmly believe that in order for Walker Hayes to become a bonafide star in country music, he will need to release a more personal song like this to radio. He tried that with "Craig" after "You Broke Up With Me," but I think that this is a more radio ready personal song that could actually be a major hit after "Fancy Like" eventually peters out on radio. I love how Hayes has tons of these deeply personal songs, and while this isn't as heartbreaking as some of his more personal ones, it will be the song to make him a true star... that is, if they actually push it to radio.

Gosh you never know what you get in his music one min laughing one min crying. His voice is so diverse. And so is his writing. This guy needs to be on the top of the charts. Fancy Like is so fun and still on replay. But his catalog has a lot of different styles. Love its not cookie cutter. And their family is the cutest ever. You are an amazing storyteller. I cant wait for more music.

It took me a few listens to really sink in. I'm 15, my dad is 50. His age is starting to catch up with him. This song makes me teary eyed. I'm already so much like him... He's not gone, but it still makes me think of when he will be. I can't do it without him.

Walker Hays, thanks for not giving up ….. I’m a different person for listening to your music. I’m a better person for trying to be like Craig…. I’ll tell you that ..!!! Keep doing what your doing brother….. my mom told me “ the greatest work you will ever do will be within the walls of your own home and no amount of success will ever compensate for failure in the home …. Your songs encourage me and lift me and I just want to thank you and Laney ( it’s a team effort ).- Christi Ko
