Walking in Isafjordur, Iceland - What to Do on Your Day in Port

Жыл бұрынWe take a walk in Isafjordur (Ísafjörður), Iceland.
Unfortunately it rained all day.
Ísafjörður is a town in the Westfjords region of northwest Iceland. It's known for its dramatic landscapes. The old town has wooden houses with corrugated tin roofs built by fishing merchants in the 18th and 19th centuries. The Westfjords Heritage Museum has exhibits on the town’s maritime history, including a collection of old fishing boats. The old hospital, now a cultural center, contains archives and photography.

Are the tender boats always there for you to take whenever you feel like going back to the ship? It is a long day in Isafjordur and I am wondering what else can be done if you don't take any shore excursions.

Isafjordur is on a spit of land in a fjord. There is not much to do nearby without a tour. The water shuttles go back-and-forth all day. Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.

I don't know how to tell you this, but you only explored about half the town. It extends into the fjord and has a golf course and stuff.

We didn’t notice any independent guides, but they probably were some. You only need boots if you’re going to go hiking, we would say. Although, as you can tell from the video, it rained the whole time. So maybe rain boots. Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.

We don’t remember seeing a rental car in town. We might’ve walked by one in the video, but didn’t notice it. Google maps shows two right in town, Europcar and Europcar Iceland. Also shows a Hertz near the airport. Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.

We would say be on the side that faces into the port. The problem is, they dock on both sides. You never know which one it’s going to be. Other than that, we book cabins on both sides. It makes no difference to us. Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.

We were in the seats on top of the tender, outside. If you watch around 0:50 seconds you can see the upper area on another tender as we pull away from the ship. Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.

We use GoPro cameras (and a little bit on our iPhones). This was recorded with a GoPro Hero 9.
