Loved this walk. In the 1960s, as a very special treat, my parents would take us to the 'Green Man". We would stay in the garden with a bottle of pop and a packet of crisps with the blue salt twisty packet, as we were not allowed in the pub. There were a couple of donkeys in the field which loved coming for a stroke. Living in Kent now so happy to see Marholm brought to life again. Happy Days.

Yep, the brook eventually goes into Cuckoos Hollow and on to Car Dyke.

I do that walk from Bretton all the time, its worth getting into Marholm church if you can... the effigies are amazing, probably the best in Cambridgeshire if you go by the size of the church... but its never open... but i think you could get the keys at one point from somewhere but we fluked in and got in a few years ago. They are pushing heavily to start building nearby at Glinton... you wonder how long this gem of a place will be in that setting.

Considering the negative connotations surrounding Peterborough as a place to live stated by any number of publications you are sure finding many idyllic villages surrounding this metropolis! I wonder, can Peterborough really be such an undesirable city as they make out? Thank you very much for finding the time to film, edit and publish these fascinating insights into the rich and varied local history surrounding Peterborough.

The surrounding villages and countryside to the west of Peterborough are the multiple jewels in the city's crown without a doubt !

Very good video, thank you. The building on the site of the old school is completely new. It replaces a detached house from the 1960s, so it looks like the old school had been completely demolished. The pond with the small island was created relatively recently - within the past 20 to 25 years.

Thanks for that Wendy. I thought the school building looked completely new so I guess it was just the site of the school and nothing more.

Really enjoyed this walk, thankyou. I wonder whether the 'Graveyard Trees ' you refer to, should really be Yew Trees rather than Cedar's? Also, Nikolaus Pevsner wrote a series of books called The Buildings Of England, for each county, and he dates many of the older and interesting buildings throughout the land. He can be a little scathing about the buildings he doesn't like though. Thanks again, you do a great job.

Recently discovered your channel which, as a newcomer to Peterborough (2001), I find invaluable to get a feel for the place. I would love to learn more about the town centre, before the now virtually pointless, Queensgate destroyed the old town centre. I have found references to Gumbergate but would love to know what was bulldozed for that dying shopping centre.
