I’m living in Lebanon, in Beyrouth. I was a 800 meters away of the explosion, it was terrifying, I didn’t want to die. It really touches me that a person like you, who has nothing to do with our country came to understand what happened, really. I’m sorry I wasn’t able to watch after 6:30 but I couldn’t handle it mentally... it is hard, it’s making me so sad and depressed... One day I’ll be able to watch it, so continue the good work❤️ Have a great life people who’ll read this comment, you only have one and only life, do not waste it or you’ll regret it

The story behind the statue is heartbreaking. An artist wanted to make something out of this disaster, so what she did was go to victims' homes and asked them for bits and pieces, remains from the explosion, etc. As she said, she was "surprised and shocked by what people had given me. Some gave me items from their perished family members, children, parents or grandparents. I didn't expect to get so many emotional items, nor their stories." (not exact quote, off the top of my memory)

As someone who lives in Lebanon and has gone through the explosion, this is Extremely appreciated, no words can begin to describe it. I remember the after effects vividly, people were angered, in pain and multiple peoples lives were shattered. This truly helps showcase what we have been through, thank you.

@Sabina Hbr it's hard for me to even imagine your pain and that of fellow Lebanese. I send my condolences to the Lebanese people. I was invited to Lebanon back in 2003 by a Lebanese family; I had a great experience there. My friend's sister, father and mother even took me way up on the mountain to the church. Also visited the caves. Over the years I lost contact. I try to see if I can find out how they are doing but I have trouble locating them on Facebook. My friend's name is Joelle Hakim. I never knew she was first runner up in the Lebanon beauty pageant back then. She only told me when I got there. Maybe she thought if she told me that I would be nervous and never visit. Her sister's name is Mirielle. They should be both married by now. If you heard of them tell them I've been trying to contact them to let them know I'm thinking of them. Even before the explosion I was thinking of them when the value of the Lebanese currency collapsed. Then this happened and compounded what is already a bad situation. If you hear from them tell them Sam from New York is praying for them and the people of Lebanon. And they can contact me here on KZfaq through my channel. Thanks. Keep the faith!

Yes many of our elder still work till the age of 80 even 90s cause we dont have a proper retirement system at least not one that works, we dont have life insurance either, nor work insurance that is reliable, etc etc. Its not something weird in Lebanon to hear people speak English and French and a bit of German and Spanish, we are born polyglots haha i myself speak 4 languages but most people speak 2 to 3 languages thats why tourists like to come here we speak their language and we are super friendly people, this is because our families have migrated after wars and come back also cause the french colonized us many years ago, and because we have American, British, French, German schools and Universities.

Hash Cloud disagree with this, yes they do come to lebanon for the amazing views and local areas but Mar Mikhayel and Gemmayze were must see areas in beirut, because they were super artistic as well as the fact that lebanese nightlife is different. Besides go to if you went to Mar Mikhayel and Gemmayze pre-explosion days you would see so many expats which further proves the point.

Badna dawret taw3iye. Maybe associations sending social workers to chat with people (especially the elders and the most closed minded) 1 on 1 and put some sense into them. The problem with us lebanese people is that we want to change stuff, but refuse to change ourselves/minds. Some kind of toxic pride? (For most of course)
