Walking the Staffordshire & Worcestershire and Stourbridge Canals from Kidderminster, which is home to a heritage railway line, to Stourbridge for the shuttle service on Britain's shortest branch line that has a very unusual train.

That little shuttle's great, isn't it? !! Also the steepest gradient on the UK network I believe. I've never been on it, but it's on my bucket list. Are you familiar with the GB Rail Rover website? There's a one day rover ticket which covers that West Midlands area - hop-on, hop-off as much as you like - and it might have saved you money on your journey back to Birmingham. Its big brother, the Heart of England, extends from Hereford to Northampton in its bottom two corners, to Chester top left and Matlock top right. And that's only a short bus ride away from the Crich tramway museum. (Also on my bucket list!)

I'm aware of rover tickets, I have a look at them sometimes to see if they're worth getting. For that journey, it wouldn't have been because for some reason a ticket to the edge of the area covered by the rover, Leamington Spa, is the same price as one all the way through to Kidderminster
