Please forgive me this random question but what is average cost per year to keep this beauty?
@PowerboatingAdventures
@PowerboatingAdventures Жыл бұрын
Morning @at4095 and thanks for watching. It would depend on a few factors such as where you moor the boat and generally how much use it has while you own it. Mooring a 9m boat permanently at somewhere like Neyland Marina would be about £300 per month plus a small electric hook up fee. Then fuel is the significant cost as to 'fill up' would be over 1k at todays prices with 600 litres capacity. The range of the tank varies significantly - if pottering around at 10mph all the time you'd get c300 miles from that tank, but if you were at planing speeds she'd be using around 60 litre per hour at 25mph or if at WOT (Wide Open Throttle) that is a thirsty c150 litres per hour at 43mph. Finally servicing - thats X 2 as two engines which could be 1k a year, or more, and each time it is serviced there would be fees to lift the boat out and back in to the water which could be £500 each time that occurs. Those are the major costs plus then the kit and equipment that goes in the boat. That gives you a glimpse :))

Happy New Year Bob and Nicky. Congratulations on your 52k views of this video. I think it must have become the définitive video on the 895! I must have watched it a dozen times now whilst waiting for my delayed delivery of a new 895. I still learn new things each time I view it! There is a chap called Damian in Australia - The Rudder- who has also posted some useful videos and tips for 895 owners. Hope to see some more boat videos from you soon. Though I would presume the South Wales Jeanneau Agents are also experiencing long delays in delivery of new boats if they are to be fitted with webasto heating systems. Roll on the spring time and let me know if you every bring your motor home down to the New Forest. Best regards

@@PowerboatingAdventures Sounds like you sold her? We just sold a 2021 C-Dory that just did not work for us. We're in the uSA and looking at Sea Sports and some aluminum boats but I really like the this Merry Fisher. I wonder how strong her bottom is? Where we boat in WA and Canada and Alaska we get lots of logs in the water. But she looks like a tough boat especially the Marlin Offshore version. Thank you so much for making this video, I have to show it to my wife later today:-) We also do a lot of traveling in our truck camper and love it. You and your wife seem like really amazing folks. Please enjoy all your adventures and thank you for responding. Kirk

Those Dorys are lovely too. The 895 Offshore is a higher spec than the 895 and has a strengthened hull which give it a higher seaworthiness rating than the 895. Yes we have sold it and just have the motorhome now but the water is always calling us back and we’ve got a walkthrough of a 1095 in July which I’m looking forward to :))

This really is a fantastic video Bob and Nicky. It really tells you all you need to know about the 895. Plus all the little extra bits of information and advice. Given your own experiences of the boat. Still considering fitting a couple of solar panels to top up the battery whilst at anchor or on a buoy. Did you find on your longer overnight stays you needed to run the engines to top up the house batteries? Did you ever think about fitting a Victron 712S battery monitor with an alarm to ensure the batteries never went below 50%?
@PowerboatingAdventures
@PowerboatingAdventures 2 жыл бұрын
Many thanks, as always, for the feedback John, much appreciated:) We never noticed any battery issues at all during all our usage, both winter and summer, and therefore didn’t go down the monitor or solar route. I think if we’d had air con say or lots of other power hungry devices it might be a consideration but there are two house batteries already which give a lot of ‘off grid’ power as long as you know what the combined usage of your devices are. If you’ve got an idea of your intended device usage, coupled the capacity of your two house batteries combined, you might find you don’t need those interventions, or you would be able to assess more accurately if you DID need such interventions - like the panels or monitor you mention. I’m just doing similar sums for the motorhome which currently has one house battery with a bay available for a second, if required, which I may utilise to give us more ‘off grid’ time if the sums tell me it would be useful :) Hope that makes sense :)
@johnpenson8801

@@PowerboatingAdventures Thanks Bob. Your views always appreciated. I might get the monitor fitted. Just for peace of mind. Only intend having fridge and chart plotter on all the time at anchor plus occasional use of lights, tv and fusion stereo. As you say, good to have two house batteries. Thanks again.

This is the best video I've seen of the 895, seems to be the perfect size and setup for fun and weekends away. Would you know if the roof bars are sturdy enough to take a 'sit on top' kayak (approximately 30 to 40lb weight) ? 👍
@PowerboatingAdventures
@PowerboatingAdventures 3 жыл бұрын
Many thanks Steve and that’s great to know! Couldn’t find much detail before we bought so here we are!! Yes the SUP rack would definitely take that sort of weight. It’s really solid, no flex in it across the width of the supports, screwed into the edges of the saloon framework which therefore disperses the weight down through those vertical sides making it well supported. Most SUP’s are in that weight region too at 30lbs so made for your sit-on. 😁🎉

Hi Bob & Hi Nicky. Great walkthrough. You inspired us enough to buy our very own 895 offshore. Fantastic boat. We were wondering what - if any- winterisation you do to the outboards? Kind regards Steve & Tina
@PowerboatingAdventures
@PowerboatingAdventures 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Steve and Tina , what lovely news that was and such a lovely message. We hope you have an amazinggggg time with the 895. Now in terms of winterisation we did next to nothing, purely because we were on the boat at every opportunity throughout the year. Some of those frosty bright mornings when the waters are flat are so lovely. Heating on inside and a cuppa sat out the back in a winters sun was just fabbbb. The Meaco dehumidifier was running throughout winter when we were away from the boat - which prevented ANY damp - but apart from that nothing else for us!! One thing to consider, for the rear swim platform shower, is to avoid that freezing as the plastic shower head is fragile and prone to damage if it freezes There is a stop cock for the line that leads to the shower head so you can isolate then drain the water out and additionally I wrapped the head in clingfilm to further prevent damage which, as a result, never gave us a problem during the very cold winter months. Propane in winter is better than butane, if it’s cold, so perhaps take propane if your out and about and need the all important cuppa. It just means you’ll have to keep using it throughout winter - oh dear 😁😂🎉🎉

In terms of fuel rates at different speeds I am going to do a film of that showing the LPH as we go through the different speeds. I know the performance data for the boat says the following but I want to compare that to the REAL data .... at planing speed it should be 59LPH at 21 knots. As soon as we escape from lockdown I'll be on it!! :)

Brilliant video, thank you for taking the time to make it. We are considering an 895 offshore to replace our current boat. We are wondering if it would be possible to change the forward cabin into a comfortable sofa/V-berth.
@PowerboatingAdventures
@PowerboatingAdventures 3 жыл бұрын
Many thanks Mrhelichopper (like that username😁), much appreciated. The forward cabin double bed has that storage area, underneath, at the foot of the bed where we keep some cushions and tools etc (as you saw in the film) and then there is that void underneath the pillow end of the bed for some electrics. Not sure you could split those areas for a V berth as the hull is moulded for those areas. Daniel Yeates at BHG Marine, Lymington, Hants, knows these boats inside out so he would tell you if it’s been done previously as a modification or whether your proposal is achievable from the structural perspective. Do let us know if you go for the 895 - you’ll love it 🎉☀️

Many thanks Andrew and in answer to your questions .... The diesel is filled through that brass unscrew cap on the tank itself. We did that using a plastic 5 litre can. The Webasto uses a VERY small amount of diesel and we only topped up once in the year. The petrol fillers are shown at 27m 46 secs on the film - 2 x 300 litre tanks with a filler on each side of the boat which you'll see briefly in the film. Hope that helps :))

Sorry to bother you again Bob and Nicky but consider you the 895 experts! Could you please tell me how you fitted out the cupboard under the sink/stove so plates and dishes, pots and pans stay secure in a seaway? Did you buy or make any plate, dish stowage device? Maybe you use the same in your motor home? Still no news on my boat!
@PowerboatingAdventures
@PowerboatingAdventures 2 жыл бұрын
Morning John, Never any bother at all!! Gosh the wait for your boat is torture!!!! Any updated arrival date? In respect of the cupboard I used one of these www.amazon.co.uk/Plate-holder-cutlery-space-plates/dp/B07PDYV1KH/ref=sr_1_5?crid=14YCA61ADRBP0&keywords=plate+holder+caravan&qid=1647341530&sprefix=plate+holder+caravan%2Caps%2C54&sr=8-5 They worked well. I think if we had kept the boat I was looking at fitting some drawer runners so we could have a pull out type unit as well - I saw a couple of examples of that on one or two of the forums and it would be a bespoke product to fit the space - here's an example albeit I might have used plastic drawers but you can see the principle :) facebook.com/photo/?fbid=10158096574821549&set=gm.654667995176821 But that straightforward foam unit did the trick for us and we had bamboo plates/dishes etc which I think we got from Go Outdoors - an Outwell product that are unbreakable!! Hope that helps John and fingers crossed for dates as the Spring/Summer approaches :))

By the way have you seen the fire sticks ( no mess extinguisher with 10 year life) that you can get at Force Four. Well worth considering for your Motorhome. Frustratingly Jeanneau are unable ( or unwilling) to give Daniel any detailed information on my boats progress or likely delivery date ( already three months late). A boat due last July has only just arrived! So eight months late! However other models arriving only a month late! Not sure why ? Perhaps I should have bought a motor home. On your other point Thomas, it is a Category B6 or C8 officially. So two double berths, then that bit where the interior table is which converts to a berth and there would be a usable space out the back under the canopy on the sun mattress area shown in our film - bit like camping under the stars! I slept out the back of our MF795 under the canopy, and it was great, albeit this one has a bigger space under the rear canopy! Hope that helps 😁

Many thanks Notoriouscab 😁☀️ as always depends on speed but around 215nm at planing speed (21-22knts) or if you fancied a potter along the coast or estuary at 6knts then 383nms or 10knts then 336nms. So a fair range 😁. Servicing and fuel are, I guess, the deciding factors when buying a boat, after the initial outlay. That’s how I looked at it 👍

Hi Paul, yes it does fit well plus space for the Torqeedo too. It’s the 3D Superlight Twin Roundair 2.5m. We got it when we had the MF 795 to fit on a roof rack but the 895 offers a lot more storage space so you could probably go bigger and still fit it in there. The bag size for the one we have is 70x45x32cms. Their Superlight Twin Air range goes up to 2.9m the carry bag being another 280mm longer so would probably work too. Hope that helps 😁

Many thanks Stigz :) There are differences between the 895 and the 895 Offshore - The offshore has a strengthened hull which allows it to move from a Category C boat to a Cat B boat and capable off taking on higher seas which of course could give it a better offshore capability and perhaps range of use. The Offshore has twin engines, generally 200's whereas the 895 can have a single 300 or 250hp engine. Fuel tanks are larger on the Offshore at 2 x 300 litres. It is very similar in terms of accommodation layout. :)

The Leatherette Dolce Artesian is an option instead of the standard fabric. @PowerboatingAdventures
@PowerboatingAdventures 3 жыл бұрын
Surely you need to get a bigger dock!!! :))) I didn't keep as much detail on the 795 as I'm now doing on the 895 - i know the 795 was about £3.85 per nautical mile at 4000 rpm and could do around 32-33 knots WOT with the BF200DXRU engine albeit we didn't do much WOT - more trying to find the ultimate/most efficient planing speed. I am keeping more detailed records on the 895 though if you decide to 'Go Large' on the dock :)) FYI The honda 200 was around 284kgs whereas the Yam 200 is nearly 60kgs lighter which would be a consideration if you went for the 795 - 60kgs right at the back is a fair difference! Both great boats of course as is the fabbb 695!!

@@PowerboatingAdventures wow 285kgs!! Didnt expect that! I was looking at the yam 200 anyway! We have a 130AETL and gets the 695 up to about 28knots, but as for cruising speed I feel like she’d be a lot more efficient and more fun with the 150/175🤔 since with more then 3 people on board it really is hard to get her on plane😅
@PowerboatingAdventures
@PowerboatingAdventures 3 жыл бұрын
Yes the 200 Honda (or the Yam for the 795 I expect) easily managed to get on the plane with 5 or 6 adults that we sometimes had on board and could hit those 30+ speeds. It would have been good to compare a Yam 200 on the back with the Honda 200 as specific data is pretty difficult to find (we found very little 'real' data when contemplating the upgrade) which is why I've started keeping detailed data on the 895 for those interested/considering the swap. Many thanks for watching Mark. The handling was easier with the 895 as it was more stable and the twin engines made slow speed manoeuvring easier. The walk on to the 895 was all at the same level right through which was an improvement. The outdoor space at the back was bigger and offered better seating set up - especially with the sun pad. I loved the side door access and the wider walkways both sides of the boat. Good height in the heads, plus the shower in there. Both cabins and beds were a good size. The galley set up was easier to work with and the storage better. The extra space and that front sun pad which turned into a bench seat was my favourite place to sit! There were so many improvements, too many to list probably, but that hopefully gives you a flavour. Of course running a second engine meant there was a big difference in running costs!! Both lovely boats though bringing a lot of great days out!!

I personally wouldn’t live on it as it’s not big enough for the family!! I do fish from the boat which is fun, and fine to do from this boat. Hi Philip, We would recommend fitting the bow thruster. Our 795 with its Honda 200 was a great boat but was most definitely easier to manage at slow speeds around the Marina, fuel berth or even picking up mooring buoys WITH the bow thruster. In breezier conditions, for all those tasks, it was even more useful!! Bite the bullet and say yes to a bow thruster 😁😁. Enjoy your 795🎉

Can you trailer this boat/customize it a bit at the moment of placing an order? ps: How do you take a shower with only 25lts of hot water? No camping I guess
@PowerboatingAdventures
@PowerboatingAdventures 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Davide, The boat is around 4.5 to 4.7 tons when fuelled and watered so you’d need a fairly big vehicle to tow it on a trailer!! I have seen one on a trailer triple axle but don’t know what pulled it - with the combined weight of vehicle and boat it would have to have a high plated gross weight :) There are a LOT of options available when you order the 895 which can add a fair bit of cost so it’s all about what your budget is then build it to fit!! I have got a list of options somewhere but it’s also on the Jeanneau website too 😁🛥 PS There is only 25 litres but that is VERY hot so creates a lot more with the mixer - giving plenty for a shower :)

I’m looking for a boat that could handle going from Florida to Bahamas. It’s 55 miles on the open ocean. Would this handle the open ocean in your opinion?
@PowerboatingAdventures
@PowerboatingAdventures 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Matthew and yes it certainly would be okay for that 55 miles - it’s range at planing speed of 21knots is over 200 miles and that distance could be just over 2 hours at planing speed. It is a Cat B6 boat so that means 6 persons in waves up to 13ft and 40knts wind. The offshore version of the 895 has a strengthened hull to enable the B6 classification. Having said that it wouldn’t be a very pleasant trip if that were the sea state!!! So definitely yes to the trip and, as always, choose the best weather window to make the journey and to make it a comfortable crossing. There are some outstanding weather apps that give accurate forecasts for us in the UK - I suspect you’ll have the same! Do your basic seamanship/VHF courses ASAP which will give you a good insight too. Hope that helps and get down the boat shop 😁😁

Many thanks for your comments George K - I saw the other comments you left on our films but they seemed to disappear when i tried to reply hence you haven't seen a reply yet!! At last I can reply to you :) I think that question is more about how comfortable you would be going out in rough seas. The 895 OFFSHORE is a Cat B boat so certified for Force 8 wind and 4 metre waves and the standard 895 is a Cat C boat which is Force 6 wind and up to 2 metre waves. We have been out in 2m waves and it's not the most comfortable ride if the wave frequency is close together. Personally we wouldn't have gone out in 4m waves at all. It is also about your experience in boat handling when the waves are high as small mistakes can prove very costly as there isn't much margin for error!! We had some very strong currents around our coastal waters which, added to the wave height, make for some conditions that always need to be respected and which could be very dangerous. There are current flows around Pembrokeshire that could see you reduced to 10 knots at 4000rpm if you were against current (should be doing 22 knots at that rpm!!) We always went out for pleasure and fun on the water and therefore didn't go out when the forecast was bad as we didn't need to!! Hopefully that helps to answer your question a bit albeit I accept it's not a detailed review of rough weather boating!!! :)
