I've had a wall mounted camvac in my workshop for over 20 years and never had a problem with it, I also have 2 floor versions and the are fantastic.

That’s awesome!!! Just out of curiosity have you ever needed to replace the motors? 20years is a long time!!

@@StockroomSupply Never had a problem with any of them, however they are only run for 45-60 minutes at a time and get regularly cleaned out with an air hose.

Thanks for the timely video. I have been researching these the past couple of days try to determine which one to buy. Pros and cons to both for a small shop. The canister one you can bring to the tool and then tuck it away afterwards or semi-build into a bench. This one can have a permanent home, holds more, and looks much easier to clean / empty. Nice to see your wall mount version has the same metal inlet pipe.

Now I like that. Looks compact, good capacity, no need to empty the drum. My question is how close do you need the inlet to your work piece when sanding on a wood lathe please. Thank You

Hi, Thanks for the video. Is this the version with the new filter cleaning system?

How does the noise compare to the drum version? I know it is hard to tell via video but it sounded quite loud even with the two acoustic outlets attached

Hi Ethan, I noticed that you had the plastic bag folded up a bit in this CamVac wall-mount video which reduces the capacity a fair bit. In the product photos for it, the bag hangs down quite a bit. So does the bag need to be folded to sit just below the mesh, or can it actually hang down to hold more dust without causing issues when it's turned on? Thanks for all the great videos! I'm definitely thinking hard about getting one of these or the 3 motor version :).

When Installed mine I kept it nice and tight to the mesh as I have a compostable bag on the inside. The compostable bag is a bit smaller and I like the heavy plastic bag nice and close to it for added support. I like having the compostable bag for a convenient way to get rid of the sawdust. You could mount the clear bag lower for extra capacity if you’d like! Thanks for watching!

@@StockroomSupply Gotcha! That's a good idea with the compostable bag. I'll check out that video as well. Thanks!

As you allude to.... At least with their design, should the bag fail, the dust will be sucked up into the bag/filter and/or drop to the floor below instead of the bag blowing away and throwing dust all over. Less mess I would assume. I double clamp my Grizzly 1250 bag for this reason (put the bag on as usual, but leave extra to fold over the first clamp and put the second clamp on it below the first)... I don't want the bag coming off!

If the bag fails on a Camvac vac you loose your suction power as the system can’t build pressure. Definitely no mess as the sawdust just sits in the bag! Good idea with your traditional collector double bagging! Thanks for watching 🙂

I noticed that the noise reduction hose sold by Record Power is 2.5m (8.2ft) in length. Is this the optimum length for best noise reduction or can this be reduced?

Would I still require a dust deputy or will this be all encompassing?
@StockroomSupply

The wall mount solves the problem of chip capacity on the Camvacs. Adding a dust deputy to the wall mount will still help keep the filters clean.

The video title refers to this unit as a dust extractor, which is an entirely different type of machine than a shop vacuum and also different from a dust collector. In the video you refer to the wall unit as a dust collector and in the only question in the comments that you answered you say this unit could benefit from a cyclone such as a dust deputy. Am I wrong in concluding that this unit is not a dust extractor, rather it is more comparable to a small dust collector?

The Camvacs are in fact dust extractors, though they stratal the line between extractors and collectors. The operate at extremely high pressures while also boasting good CFM due to multiple motors. The Camvacs can be used as a dust extractor OR a dust collector. They are pretty cool! kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jLqRZ9WglpurlHU.html

it seems to me that they'd benefit from some engineering assistance - and I don't mean that in a negative way! but their top competition is probably the Supercell, which uses the simplest method possible to manage the bag suction problem - a pressure-equalizing air hose. They would need to re-think how the bag connects to the drum but they could do away with the "cage" which seems like it will make a brutal mess when changing bags. If I was a good metalworker I'd be tempted to lop off the bottom of the 3-motor version, put on a cyclone, and then exhaust into a noise-dampening baffle/box. add an equalizing air hose and there you go, a Supercell for 1/2 the price haha!

You're right. That and they should do with their stock filters and instead ship with the NanoMax CV cartridge filters. However, the most basic version of the Supercell is - at least here in Canada - 4 times the price of this unit. FOUR Freakin'. Times.
