On this edition of Wall Street Week, Stephanie Flanders, Bloomberg News Head of Economics and Government explains why the US labor market shows signs of weakening under the surface. Kenneth Jacobs, Lazard Executive Chairman tells us why the Supreme Court's reversal of the Chevron doctrine is not necessarily a pro-business decision, and Peter Georgescu, Young & Rubicam Chairman Emeritus recounts his journey from communist Romania to the US and reflects on 70 years as an American.

Wow! One of the best episodes. It's nice that you have covered more then the markets. David is raising the bar of the TV shows once again. Congrats to the whole Wall Street Week Team!

Business leaders need to watch Georgescu’s interview and take action. One of the best speakers I’ve seen on Bloomberg and WSW.

Peter Georgescu's story was amazing - I hung on every word. David's ending story about Peter Jennings, who I group watching, was icing on the cake making this Wall Street Week, one the best ever produced.

Broke and unable to admit it. If you can’t admit there is a problem, you can not resolve it.

Some of the claims that Jacobs makes (e.g., that the Chevron decision may not be pro-business) seem, well, biased. It is not at all clear that the biases which exist in the courts are any more or less prevalent than biases in Federal regulatory agencies. Jacobs cites that many judges have never managed a company, a company budget, a board of directors, yet Jacobs ignores that many appointees and senior staff of Federal regulatory agencies often similarly lack such experience. Federal agencies are headed by presidential appointees, whose job it is to promote particular agendas, often ideologies. While most Federal agencies have impressive expert workforces, Jacobs overlooks that the agency agendas and initiatives and priorities are for the most part NOT set by that expert workforce. Rather, initiatives and priorities tend to be set by presidential appointees and other top agency management-- many of whom were NOT selected because of their expertise or even merit, and who may be motivated by factors other than expertise (e.g., presidential administration priorities, political or ideological biases, career advancement). Jacobs cites "predictability" as an advantage of empowered Federal regulatory agencies, yet predictability is not necessarily advantageous when it is consistently biased.

more litigation is always a bad outcome...not only the risk, but lag in the justice system is already horrible. Good time to go to law school.

Generation after generation, Americans 🇺🇸 continue to contribute greatly to mankind. - That's *American exceptionalism,* which the authoritarian expansionist Chinese regime can never understand.
