Hundreds of motorcycle enthusiasts, including serving and retired NSW police officers will join their colleagues from across the country for the annual Wall to Wall: Ride for Remembrance.
The charity event is a police memorial motorbike ride that commemorates the service and sacrifices of fallen Australian police, raises funds in support of fallen officers’ families, and promotes motorcycle safety.
An estimated 750 current and retired officers, their family and friends ride from Sydney to the National Police Memorial in Canberra, the central end-point for riders from all other states and territories.
“The Wall to Wall ride is a significant event that gives NSW Police officers the opportunity to acknowledge those we have lost, while coming together in a meaningful way to commemorate their service,” Deputy Commissioner Mal Lanyon, Metropolitan Field Operations, said.
The riders will be escorted from The Domain along the Cahill Expressway and over the Sydney Harbour Bridge before travelling along the M2, M7 and south along Hume Highway.
“The Police family always steps up and takes time to keep those fallen officers and their families in their thoughts and those sacrifices are never forgotten,” Deputy Commissioner Lanyon said.
The names of any officers who have died in the past year are added to the National Wall of Remembrance.
All funds raised during the Wall to Wall Ride by the NSW contingent will go toward NSW Police Legacy.
NSW Police Legacy provides care and support to more than 20,000 serving and retired police officers and their families during times of tragedy and need.
