You guys are striking gold. I love making my own plastic and lead but amazed about how few people know about shooting plastic lures. Meateater has all our backs and I can’t thank them enough. Watching my kids catch crappie on my hand made road runners is incredibly fulfilling!

Gold eyes are about to start running on the Winnipeg river. Smoked gold eye is the absolute best thing in any of our waters. Literally amazing. Two foot plung bonnet with like a #2 snell and a chunk of a crawler. It’s a blast, great for kids and when your on them you bang em

You are so fortunate to have quality waters to fish. We hav lots of lakes here in Michigan that sportsmen dollars pay to stock. Soon as the fish are legal size the tribe comes with their nets and clean out the lake. That’s a fact.

This is hands down the best fishing video I have ever seen. Making your own lures, cooking fish that you caught, and fishing on a boat. What more could you ask for in a video. I think you guys are going to turn a lot of people on to making their own lures.

I've dabbled in the art of making soft plastic lures a bit. Its definitely a skill worth knowing for the serious fisherman. I would suggest starting with open pour molds, since its simpler and cheaper to get into. The only tools you need are a cheap microwave to melt the plastic, an old glass measuring cup, something to stir with, and the molds. No need for any of the injector stuff. The downside is you have to pour each lure individually and it is harder to get multicolor lures to laminate properly. If you get the injector stuff, you need more tools and are more limited in what patterns are possible, but its easier to use. I haven't made any lures in a year or so because of financial pressure. I want to get an injection setup for the increased production, but I can't afford it right now.

If you’re looking for lead, get ahold of your local service plumber. You might need to take a hammer to their cast iron scrap pile with safety glasses but a lot of lead can be salvaged out of old hub and spigot fittings.

I wonder why more people in Erie don't use more swimbaits. we use mostly deep divers some people use crawler harnesses like the Erie Deary some spoons as well. but here on the northeast Ohio section of Erie hardly anyone tries this technique.
@samsherdhaliwal9265
@samsherdhaliwal9265 2 жыл бұрын
You can use this technique when the walleye are in the bays but the bulk of the walleye fishing is done in deeper water in Erie. Lake of the woods and Lake Erie are so different it’s hard to compare them. Jay mentioned in the video having trouble working swim baits effectively in deeper water so imagine the difficulty in 30-70ft of water
