WELCOME to another episode of SHOP TALK! In this week's video, we give a quick and dirty rundown comparing different styles of walleye soft plastics and how they run in current (on this day, casting them down current and working back up to the boat). In side -by -side comparison, even similarly sized plastics of the same style have very different actions and drag in current, based on their total surface area (ribbed plastics vs. smooth). Which style is right for you? It really comes down to current flow, jig weight, and achieving the right amount of balance/resistance to keep that jig/plastic combo just off the bottom - hanging in the strike zone as long as possible.
*NOTE - we are casting these DOWN current, working them slowly back UP current. When vertical jigging, if done properly, there is little to no current effect on the plastics - only what you do to animate them with your rod and jigging cadence.
