Abandoned Kmart - Beckley, WV. Closed in 2018m This was a staple in the community of Beckley until other competition grew up and Kmart did not. Since it's closure it has been used as a Spirit Halloween store twice. Other than that, it just sits here vacant.

KMart was a pretty cool store. I hate that they had to close. There was one in New Castle, PA that was my absolute favorite.

You guys are awesome! So down to earth. I always look forward to your videos. We have an abandoned Kmart here in Brockton,MA. It opened in 1973 and basically looks the same inside and out as it did the day it opened. It closed at the end of 2019. Actually the whole plaza is pretty much empty. If you're ever out this way maybe you can check it out!

Thank you for the kind words. That means a lot to me. I'm just myself on camera. I think that's the best thing to do is just be yourself. I definitely want to get back up to New England and explore around. Besides, I have a cousin who lives in Boston who I haven't seen in years and have been wanting to visit. Plus I want to show Kayla around. So multiple reasons to come up there!

This was actually "Magic Mart" last, in case anyone was curious. Obviously it was Kmart as well before that, but I thought it would be worth mentioning that this was Magic Mart for a few months before the entire company liquidated and shuttered in September 2018. It opened in late April 2018, so it only lasted for roughly 4 months.

I was gonna say that. All the money Magic Mart put in moving the store and then they shut down 4 months later. I didn’t even get to go to it before it closed. Miss both stores.

I live in Beckley area as mentioned before it was it magic mart for couple months it was supposed to be rose’s discount store but unfortunately the owner of the building won’t allowed to go into the building since they won’t take all of the space available because they would only take 60 thousand of square of the building of the 90,225 square feet I heard that old advance auto parts is becoming pharmacy.

This opened in the 70s, the Gabes in the reflection across the street was a Murphy Mart at the time, later bought and converted into an Ames until the early 90s bankruptcy. Anyhow, went to this store countless times since I was a kid. It was a well received store until the WM Supercenter came in. Even then the store held on forever, averaging roughly 10 cars in the parking lot any given day, until finally giving out around 2017 or 18. The fresh paint and the new parking lot was courtsey of the short lived Magic Mart (a poor man's Kmart) that moved in for about 6 months. They weren't even told by corporate that they were about to fold, when they did it all that work moving in.

I love your referral to the garden 🪴 center as the prison yard to San Quentin prison yards at Kmart that’s priceless hon you should have a Hell in the cell match like the undertaker and was it mankind had years ago in the 90s my hubby and I at the time well my second hubby he absolutely loved WWF wrestling it was back then but anyway that would’ve been a great Hell in the cell match with you and Eddie in anyway gosh I’m just getting ready to go out and plant my dad’s yard he’s in the hospital in intensive care for the second time in three weeks he’s 83 and he’s got cancer and I’m waiting to have a hip replacement so I’m just laying here trying to get out of pain before I get up and go to work out in the yard and mow the lawn and weed eat while I’m on a crutch but you do what you do when you love someone right❤️💚🙏❤️💚🙏

Nice vid,I wish you could of did our va beach kmarts before they closed. They all seemed to close between 2017-2019,one super k was turned into a walmart the other is a flooring place now.

Come to Bluefield / Princeton next. In Princeton there is a Save A Lot, and other abandoned places here.

Think there’s an abandoned Hills in Bluefield too. I know the building was recently bought so not sure how long it will stay that way. Think there’s an old Kroger too.

People have looked at me when I went exploring my Cudahy Wisconsin Big Kmart last year also my abandoned big K looks like this one just orange and still has the sign up and it still lights up every night even though it’s been closed for like 3 years now

I've been to this Kmart before, but I think its been since either 2008 or 2010 I was last in that store. Really nice store, and I've also heard that the Kmart was converted to a Magic Mart after they closed. I got a toy mail truck that looks like the USPS Mail Cars that they use today. Fond memories from that store.

a quick story time about this store I think it was built in the 70s or 60s it closed in middle 2018 and in later 2018 magic mart moved in the old building magic mart was in the building a little up the road I’m sure it was a hills but people say it was an Ames but it doesn’t seem like it the Ames was where Gabe’s is now this store is now an academy sports and the old hills / magic mart is an Aldi boot barn and planet fitness it was originally only subdivided between planet fitness and Aldi and the middle was vacant and magic mart still left their signage up inside but now it’s a boot barn

My step sister had a 86 cutlass Supreme for a while wreck it 3 times before had give it up after the 3rd wreck. It was a tank for sure. Got another g body story back in my air force days for another time of course.

Did the baby section used to be a K Cafe? I used to go to this Kmart when I was visiting family in Beckley and I always felt like that's where the cafe/Little Ceasers used to be.

The problem with new GM cars can be blamed on Chairman Roger Stone (I think that was his name) who is to blame for basically every problem in Flint since he closed the GM plant and cost the city it's jobs (causing people to leave to find jobs elsewhere, so thus, no tax money to fix infrastructure like water pipes). I'd throw him right in that prison yard with Eddy.

There’s an abandoned Big Kmart in Larose, LA, it’s been closed for 20 or so years and on Google maps, you can see the Big K scar, I’d love to see you go to that one eventually

@@WallieB26 yeah, what’s funny is I had discovered it by accident on my last visit to LA, had no idea the town ever had a Kmart, i read it was mostly vacant since it closed, and still the Big K scar is visible which I find unbelievable😂 *Also, in the New Orleans area a bunch of Kmarts closed within the last couple of years, it’s worth stopping up there too

The Hagerstown Md store was a Spirit Halloween in 2020 after it closed in February. The Big K sign on the main road is still there and the garden sign is still there. I know we all hate Eddie but I wonder if Kmart would have lasted as long as it has if someone else would have taken over. When consumers stop patronizing a store it's hard to bring them back and they can't survive with only us hardcore folks.

This Kmart was like a step in the past with all old letters above the different departments I really miss my Kmart 1998-2018 Festus Mo. my Kmart always did great business they didn't close because of Kmart's closinng around the US they closed because of how you would say the benchod landlod that owned the building when it came time for them to renew their lease the landlord wanted 2 time what they were paying for rent previously I had a friend that worked their that told me that the store manager tried to come to a lease agreement with the landlord but the landlord wouldn't budge so my friend said the store manager was like fuck it there's no way anyone is going to change the landlord's mind he was like I know how much this store ment to the comunity an the people an he was like when you have fought for somthing you know is right but you know your not going to win you know it's just best to throw in the towel that's how my Kmart closed

According to some research I done (with google maps) I put the address in for this Beckley Kmart and it shows on google maps street view the Magic Mart so my guess is it became a Magic Mart the date said January 2018 btw however it didn’t last long bc the magic mart corporation said they were shutting all magic mart stores down so it didn’t last long bc the magic mart store closed in October the same year

Yeah GM has made some great vehicles. I'm looking for a 2000 Silverado but used car prices are high right now because so many people are buying used, they need to remedy this computer chip shortage so people have the opportunity to buy new. I got a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am GT 3.4 V6 and its running great still. Got some rust going but happens. I like the new Equinoxs. My neighbor has one along with those bigger Silverados. He had an Impala which wasnt bad. I'm not a huge fan of new car designs but I recently got a 2018 Dodge Challenger which is really nice. Got a nice 70s retro American look to it. I use that for fun and my Grand Am for daily driving. Cars today look pretty dull in my opinion everything looks the same. Pre 2000s though American cars was pretty unique and awesome.

Not exactly. I've had a couple people come up and ask what I was doing and I'd tell them and they'd either say okay or they'd be interested and want to check out the videos. The best is when this happened with a police officer. He drove around the car thinking it may have been dropped off, abandoned, or stolen (was a bad area known for it). I asked him if something was wrong and what I was doing and if it was okay if I continued. He said yeah it was okay and was immediately interested in the channel and actually suggested a few more places for me to check out nearby!

It's not even that many. When I last checked it was closer to 15 in the continental United States and approximately 25 or so with the stores in places such as Puerto Rico and Guam, etc.
