Exploring An Abandoned Motel In Texas. On our Summer trip, we took a day to go out to Abilene, TX. Along our route we discovered this overgrown, vandalized, and long abandoned motel. I personally really wanted to check this out. I hope you enjoy. Note: as urban explorers we explore places with respect. We don't take anything nor leave anything but footprints. We just took our photos/video and left the place the way we found it. We do not condone vandalism.

It probably was a nice motel for a room for the night in its heyday. That place has really fallen into disarray and its all grown out too. Wonder what that trailer was doing there? Maybe it was owner's house at one point?

There is an abandoned motel in my town. But everything is all boarded up! It’s in Hopatcong New Jersey!

To me, it looks like the main building was a single family home that had a motel added on to it. Thank you for sharing!

Seems like there was a fair amount of work relatively recently-almost all the doors and the sills look fairly new, new walls in some places, there’s almost no graffiti on the building at all and the exterior paint looks recent, and there’s all sorts of brickwork that looks fairly intact; that back area may have been a pool area ot like you said, a patio area.

10:40 That was actually a 6 because the top end part is finished and painted and the middle and lower end parts are broken off and there is a silhouette gray haze of the completed 6 on the door itself. :)

I wish I had known you were in town----I only live a couple of miles from the old Derrick motel you are at. Lots of neat abounded stuff around here and Abilene. Next time you are close, let me know and I will buy y’all dinner. This old place never had a pool.

Not a very big place is it? I love seeing the old timey motels, a true slice of Americana ,unlike the new fangled ones with all the bells and whistles. Yep,sure brings back sweet memories of my travelin' days👍🏻👍🏻

Must've been abandoned 20 or so years ago, the doors still have actual key locks & not a key card system like most motels have now a days. Most motels switch to key card systems by the mid 90's to early 2000's.

It looks like it when you compare it to other photos I’ve found, there were photos dating back to 2007 with this being abandoned and the renovations falling through even then. It does look like it was quite nice at one time.

Hi im adam genovese It's mine I was letting people take what they could use before I tore it down, shut it down in 09 after the tornado located in clyde tx hope you enjoyed and use to be a patio and fountain in the back!

Sadly to say this but this is one of those places where have to be torn down because I don't think you can save place like that hotel but I bet you can save that hotel in cartoons tho lol :)

10/25/21 I love the motel I think it's a great investment especially for families you know and and I love the center where the fireplace is at in the kitchenette and it has two big rooms and a bathroom I think it's great investment for families, or all you do is block the doors and make entrances through the rooms you know like making it a big house.🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

@@adamvyondandplotagonmaster7454 we had same with from what I could tell was a abandoned dentist's office. Abandoned I dare say almost 30 years recently demolished. Long boarded up and so badly overgrown there was no way too see it aside from the road. All that ever sat there for longest time was construction machinery when state highway was being worked on. I went by Saturday and noticed demolished and overgrowth still showed signs of recent cutting.

@@adamvyondandplotagonmaster7454 I forgot too add Kentwood, Michigan. One spot a Hot 'N Now still stands though building itself was demolished sometime last year in Grand Rapids, MI. Still some other abandoned spots good for shooting. Including probably the only Whittmark still standing. Owner refuses too budge and is fighting having it demolished though building is falling apart.

Hey Wallie, I’m not trying to be rude but I believe the word you are looking for is adjoined when talking about rooms that are connected by a locked door. I love your videos and I don’t mean to offend. I hope you don’t take it the wrong way. By the way I owned a 1989 Z24 with the 2.8 L V6 engine. I bought it new in 89 and passed it on to my girlfriend in 2003. 🤘🏻

Or is that an act? I love this video it was epic! I’m sad you couldn’t get in the trailer to see but, I understand why you didn’t.
