I’m probably headed in this direction.. mainly because I’m gettin too old for gigging bands.. BUT… what’s missing is that vital interaction of human beings with one another and their instruments.. THATS MUSIC..! But I’m gonna keep on truckin..

Came to say the same thing. One thing tho, I was once part of a group who's whole was greater than greater than the sum of its parts. And then it was gone. That can ruin you. There's nothing that can even compete, everything else pales in comparison. The best and worst thing ever.

I've been using this combination since the Aeros was released. I also use an MC8 to control the Aeros and MC6 to control the Beatbuddy. I have a Fishman TriplePlay on my guitar to pull sounds from a Roland synth. I am now playing music full time as a one-man-band and have completely closed my business. David Packouz is truly an innovator!

To generate ideas and beats and recording its great. Live, it’s a bit tedious and slow loading. Still can’t load files directly back to Aeros. Hopefully soon. You really need the Midi Maestro to use the 6 track to full potential. It’s definitely a work in progress. The exp pedal input still has no function.

The zoom R24 dgital recorder can do similar all in one package. Up to 24 looped or normal tracks, drum macine, on-board effects, etc. I own 3 R24s. For a singer-songwriter a looper, or something like the R24, is essential.

This is great stuff. But it is also why music has no character anymore. The live interaction of the Allman Bros, the Doobie Bros, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Stevie Ray Vaughn, you get the picture, can never be done this way. But I suppose it does serve it's purpose. Of course, the younger generation will never know what they are missing so I suppose this is ....... Progress? I became a one man band half way thru my career. I loved the autonomy, but missed the camaraderie. I do mine in my studio from front to back, no loops, so it somewhat approximates the old way of doing it, but there's still no immediate response to something the "drummer" just did or the "bass player" just did etc since it's all somewhat arranged. Tho now and then magic still happens and I go back and then incorporate the idea that happened on the fly, but that is rare. I do jam a good bit on the idea tho until it starts to gel and then I start laying tracks so I guess there is some spontaneity in my method. But I can see where your method does require a certain kind of skill tho the loops by their very nature would have a certain sameness over and over. Would be fun to "mess with" tho. I'm sure if it had been available when I was young I would certainly have tried it.

You're over thinking this, this isn't for playing shows its for at home use. You could blab on about music in the old days and your opinion about why youre not into it but the point is no one cares and convenience to create music ideas alone if you don't have other people to play with.
@break5mine
@break5mine 2 жыл бұрын
And also there a lot people who play music in the way you feel isn't done anymore. Sounds like you're Gate keeping, and being condescending. The convenience of technology has allowed a lot more people to play music, and it is equally authentic you're just close minded because it dosent interest you.

@@break5mine Again, you completely missed my point. Must not have read the last two sentences. Or the first for that matter. We have some great "toys" to play with today, and I use a lot of them as a one man band. But I also played in bands and there is a difference. That's all I'm saying.

The trouble with loop's is you get stuck in them. Plus how did we get to 2022 stuck in loop's when in the 1980's my Casio CZ230s could in most cases do a backing track for a whole song and it was a breeze to program too.

Also , anyone who has ever used the quantize feature in recording software ( I think that’s what it’s called) knows that when something is too perfectly on time it kind of sounds worse for some reason. Like it looses that human element .

It’s better to invest your time and money to become a musician than a Drummer in a box and looper. This might be for someone who wants to become a DJ instead of a musician. Tommy Emmanuel is a good example.

These are great practice tools but have none of the magic and chemistry and tone of a good band and I have to say as someone who plays/teaches music for a living I have grown to hate this sound. Some people have made decent stuff this way but if everyone worked this way we would not have most of the great music that we enjoy. Also , this is why you hardly see real open mics with a full band anymore!! If you do see an open mic now it’s acoustic and people use this kind of technology and it sucks.
