I’m 31 and just started learning to skate for the first time after grabbing a board like this at Walmart. I really struggled to get any distance while practicing basic pushing. It just doesn’t want to roll! Now I know it’s not just a me problem:)

Hey Kody! Thanks for reminding folks to clean up their world around them. I am sure with a cheap set of ABEC 7's or so that board would have been much better, it is as you said a 15-dollar board. One of my longboards has the Sunset LED wheels. They sure look neat at night, but each wheel is a mini generator to power up the LED's, and the drag is very noticeable. Thank you for posting your down to Earth clips. As always the sounds are fun!

After watching a bunch of videos on here and trying to start I just concluded that I sucked at skateboarding and got a longboard instead 🛹 Now I feel better and will go get a board and try again! Picked up this same board as my first skateboard and ordered new bearings and wheels a day later. I havent noticed any cracks yet but im already having buyers remorse :/

i just started skating, i am practicing on this tony hawk board, and it works pretty well for me, and it does move pretty fast, i think you may have gotten a messed up one.

My daughter wants to learn to skate after cruising on a penny. I legit just bought the $15 one with the plastic trucks just for a cheap board. I’m putting my old tensor trucks with the abec 5 and old spitfire wheels. It’ll be good for a learner. But besides how crappy all the parts are, I was let down even more by the fact that the hawk outsourced it to China 😢 what a let down

So I tried to get into skateboarding recently and thought that I was just terrible and doing something wrong because I could not for the love of god even get across a parking lot without kicking 20+ times. I’m so glad I found this video and discovered it’s the board. I bought a Tony hawk signature series thinking it was going to be a good starter board. Because, you know, Tony Hawk.

I just got a Tony Hawk Signature Series board as my first board today. It barely moved, just like yours, but once I loosened the wheels it worked just fine.

I had one of those... I bought wheels with bones Red's and was more decent but it didn't turn properly, eventually i bought trucks and it changed the whole board, but the wood was still cranking, eventually i bought a real birdhouse tony hawk board, later i found out... Those boards have a weight limit of like 120 lbs, it's in the label's, and the bearings suck because it's for beginner's to not kill them self, so ironically it is for beginner's...

The best thing for parents to do IMO is to hop on FB market place and buy a used complete and just crank the wheels down a bit. You can lysol it down to disinfect it (just not in the bearings). You can spray paint over the graphic and regrip it depending on how used it is. Never focus your boards, just take it apart and pass it on

Found one in the trash. Changed out the bushings, bearings and wheels with quality ones that have been replaced with better in my own boards. Its a fact all thats gotta go by the time you upgrade it to make it ridable youve spent 50 dollars or more. After that it turned out decent. Took it to a park to try it out. Dropped in on a 5ft half and a 3 ft quarter and most of the obstacles there and all is still good so far. I had to replace everything that matters on this thing to make it righteous only the deck and the aluminum parts of the trucks remain. I used old parts to upgrade so this one didn't cost me anything. After seeing the quality in the hardware I'd never pay for one of these. Your better of getting a 40 or 50 dollar board for a beginner.

I mean this is decent for small kids to learn. The slow bearings help them get comfortable and later get a real board. I started on a Walmart board and I’m sure a lot of other people did too

I was planning to get a new board this year, since my last one was the equivalent of walmart boards, only worse. I was initially gonna go with Globe's goodstock skateboard because of Tensor trucks and a slick deck, but my family members decided to surprise me with a Tony Hawk 540 signature series on my birthday. I couldn't really bring myself to tell them that TH skateboards were notorious for their low quality because they only meant good by it. Besides, I found out that the shop wouldn't offer a refund, so I am kinda stuck with it now. I am considering getting new bearings at least. Talk about fate... Do you think it's gonna be fine for cruising around if I just change the bearings? I want to change the wheels too, but I am not sure whether trucks play a decisive factor here.

So I bought one of those $15 dollar ones and I put some parts from another board I had laying around (bushings, bearings, wheels) and I use it for practicing new tricks so I don’t beat up my other board when learning new stuff.

Well I also have this Tony Hawk skateboard, I bought a new Bones wheels and I'm planning to buy a new bearings. Do you think It'll help the board a bit? I mean the wheels were really crappy but I think the deck isn't that bad (sorry for my English)

Lol I just bought this board for my son’s 6th bday. But for $26 he can sit on his butt and ride down the local park downhill sidewalk. (Which is what he likes to do) and he won’t get going too fast 🤣 not a bad buy for my situation.

My in-laws bought this board for my kid. Put some super reds bearings (didn't help). Was going to swap out trucks with my 20 year old independents. Hole pattern does not match up 😤. I remember my second board was Tony Hawk bones brigade chicken head. That was when you had to build it at the skate shop. I am pretty disappointed even for a beginner board. Up the price by 40 bucks and let the kids have fun.

There’s no washers under the axle nut and also the bearings are abec 3, I put some abec 9 bearings on added the washers and now its lots better, my boys love these

Best option after comparing getting Amazon boards vs Amazon board videos is it really is best to just going on Amazon I've seen people cracking and breaking them to but at least they do work better then a Walmart board you can get a complete board by element for a good price surprisingly not that high at all considering it's by element but it's also one of the older designs the one that says wind water fire and earth and you can get ot for 66

I have that board. I modified it with new wheels and bearings. The trucks are perfectly fine as they are high quality metal. I even added the spacers. It’s a fine board after modifying it. It rides just fine and can get around the skatepark just fine.

Some Wal-Mart board's are actually good.

my trucks werent as bad, they were bad but i jus decided to buy some good wheels. and it actually rolled alot smoother and faster. i dont know if that was the only problem but yea..

so i bought the tony hawk board like a few months ago and with the wheels it had,,,it honestly sucked since i was always behind my friend who was SOOOO ahead of me and i would get so tired and then one of my friends put new wheels on it and it went way more faster but it super wiggly and today i got my new board just the board itself and im using the wheels my friend gave me since they are really good and i didn’t take all the plastic off and im having trouble take the screws off from the bottom and i think it’s from the plastic 🤦🏾‍♀️
