So it finally happened, the backhoe broke. We really put this machine to the test with what we make it do and this time it was too much. The hydraulic cylinder for the bucket snapped. Luckily it is an easy fix, we just have to wait for a new one, but a good lesson was learned. We were also able to harvest a few apples from our apple tree to make a pie. We work further on the driveway by putting good use to some big boulders we have unearthed. We are using the big rocks as a base layer for the switch backs. We start the process of putting them in place. We are able to smooth out the leach field to finally plant some grass. We explain how we use the float function on the tractor to do this effectively and safely.

Just watched the video! You guys were one of the reasons why we bought our Rk24. The abuse this compactor can take is amazing. We are developing a mountain homestead sort of place, and this tractor is amazing for what can do. Ricky just reminded you, he needed a vacation from moving the 1 ton boulders. Love your channel. My wife and I want to see a vlog on how the 4 of you make a living there on your mountain retreat. Love to follow suit!

Thanks, Jason! Glad you're as happy with your purchase as us. That little tank is pretty amazing, considering it's size. I just installed the replacement cylinder this afternoon and we're up and running again. Learn from my mistake and don't use the backhoe as a point to tow from. Won't do that again. Lol. Good luck with your homestead. Sounds cool. What area?

Another great video . The way that I have done different times of getting a big rock or a big piece of concrete out of a deep hole . Roll, or rock the rock or concrete over to one side of the hole and then put some dirt in the other side of the hole and then move the big rock over on top of the dirt that you just put in the hole and now put some dirt over in the other side of the hole and then move the rock back over on top of the dirt that you just put in the hole, now put more dirt over in the other side of the hole and move the big rock back over on the dirt that you just put in the hole and each time that you do that it raises the big rock up out of the hole a little more and just keep on doing that till it is up out of the hole and up on top of the ground. You all might be able to bring that apple tree back to life , after that freezing weather is over with early March or so, in the spring cut all the top limbs down (half way height of top limbs) toward the main trunk of the tree where all the top limbs branch out in different directions, till they are all at about the same height in the top of the tree, if you leave one of the tree top limbs taller very much, than the others all the new growth will go to that one fork of the tree top and then cut at least half of all the limbs out of the tree on down towards the ground, making sure that you get rid of all the dead limbs and trim any of the limbs that are growing inward towards the center of the tree and when you get done you should be able to take your cap off of your head and throw it up in the air from under the tree and it make it up and out of the top of the tree and then you have trimmed enough limbs out of the center of the tree . This is how that you trim fruit trees. I have done this to several trees before and it rejuvenates them with new growth, if the trunk of the tree is still fairly solid . But your tree might have been neglected for to long and not be savable . I will be looking for you all in the next video, so you all be careful and stay safe . As always, Jeffrey !!!

Consider the RK37 Brian. I had a thorough discussion with my mechanic at RK and he had big concerns about the RK25 hydraulic pump being undersized. The 24 actually has a bigger pump than the newer model. He made me feel lucky I got the 24 vs the newer 25. I don't know, Bryce's 25 seems to be pretty strong.
@PeaceIntheValley
@PeaceIntheValley 2 жыл бұрын
@@WalnutsandWineberries That's interesting, Jon, about the 25, and may very well be true. I have the service manual on the 25 in case I would need to change it out (or service anything). I've questioned myself as to whether the pump is as strong as what is claimed on the pages on the rktractor site. Or in reverse, I actually think the 24 has a stronger pump than what the papers say after seeing what your's does. The RK site specs show the 25 has much more lift capacity and weight, but I know some of the specs are not right for other things such as weight and fluid capacities. After watching what happened in this video it also makes me wonder if the 24 is too strong for how it's built. Either way, I am not disappointed in either of these models.

@christopherfarmer1812
@christopherfarmer1812 2 жыл бұрын
Greg Lewis you are most likely correct, a hydraulic shop can make a new hydraulic rod, or replace just the rod part if it didn't damage the cylinder body, I've rebuilt/repacked most all of my own hydraulic cylinders, one I couldn't because I bent the rod on one of the cylinders on the grapple bucket, local shop made a new rod for that one and had it back to me in a few days

I can agree that RK24 is a tank that does way more than it looks like it will. I have abused mine more than you have so far. I started a homestead with mine but due to physical limitations I had to pay someone to build the house and do the large scale dirt work. I haven't broken a hydrolic cylinder like to you have. Im shocked about that as I have done the same thing. We I show people the things ive done with mine they think I m crazy and shocked it did it. Just a few things ive done. 500 foot trench 4 feet deep for electrical lines through sandstone, granite and sandy clay. It need new backhoe teeth after that. Cleared 2 acrea of mature trees to include digging stump out that are 3-4 feet in diameter. Mostly oak and popular. Moved and stacked logs with the same diameter that wood weight calculators say the weighed 2000 lbs. The bug ones lifting with a grapple about a foot off the ground is about all it could do safely. Things got very front end heavy and would lift the backed off the ground even with a backhoe on it. Actually tipped mine over once and with a little TLC it was back up and running like normal. Wish you guys the best and keep the videos coming.

It's wonderful to hear there's another nut like me out there ripping up the woods with an RK24. I used to use the backhoe like a log skidder when I was pretty oblivious to the after effects. Just chained it to the bucket and drove off. Haha! I guess I have the attitude that stuff breaks, and when it does, it's fun to fix.

I've seen several of your posts, I worried you were pushing the tractors limits. I thought you would break a front cylinder but it's all good. If you have a hydraulic shop nearby they'll fix that and quick. Think about a heavy duty inexpensive Harbor Freight electric hammer drill. Then drill holes to excess and get more of the rock expanding mud. It never hurts to split those large rocks. I have a TYM 264H, same manufacturer as your RK mines just got larger tires. My best to you!

Aw man!!! I thought we had this discussion after a previous video?😢 You gotta quit yanking from the backhoe. So anyway I’m sure you figured out that you can make much more hydraulic pressure than the pump on the tractor can and the tractor has no way to dump the pressure, so things go bad. It’s simple fluid dynamics! (Stolen from the movie RV) This is why you should watch the bucket angle when back dragging with the front loader. Awesome to hear that RK is going to help out! Love the videos and look forward to them and love the life you guys are creating!
