When I was a kid weekends were Saturday morning cartoons, and "The Wonderful World of Disney" on Sunday nights. How I miss those days.

i was born in Wiltshire , England and becvause of that i am a 'Moonraker' .Its a strory from Smuggling days when smugglers took their contraband inlanmd at night and hid it during the day . Itscsaid that they hid it in a village pond , and when getting the contraband out with a long rake , the excise men appeared !". When asked what they were doing they quickly said they were trying to rake out the big cheese from the pond . (could have been a gold plate?'} The excise men laughed for it was the reflection of a golden moon in the pond . They left the simpletons to 'rake the Moon' from thev pond , hence Wiltshiremen are 'Moonrakers '

I have such amazing memories of watching WWOD on the Disney channel. Of course I didn't see these shows when they first came out, they were reruns but that didn't matter to me. Disney was absolute magic for all of my childhood. So many wonderful memories with my parents and grandparents, siblings and friends.

LOL. I love Loser comments like this. "Waaah, why isn't life like when I was a kid and Everything was done for me! Why does the world change,? Help me I'm being oppressed by.... cartoons!" No wonder your generation failed so badly. So weak.

@@java4653 I’m not a fan of these comments from folks in my generation. Quit obsessing with how things are changing, you can still find joy in things from the past…takes some effort, but it can be done. Learning to tune out the things you think are negative is the key to finding peace.

I'm enjoying this little-known tale out of Long Island history, though I imagine it was filmed off a more convenient California coast. The glorious old days of pirates, smugglers, sailing ships, crusty captains & old salts hard to beat for an entertaining story, no matter how blood-soaked! Of course, that's deemphasized here but there's still a surprising amount of fisticuffs & violence for a Disney telefilm---and all the more enjoyable for it! I've always enjoyed the studio's historical tales---they were carefully researched & presented with an eye toward accurate settings & costumes. I also enjoy viewing such incidental things as period-appropriate indoor decor, whether a tavern, home, shipping office, maps on walls, etc., all contributing to a believably historic atmosphere. Over the years, I've noticed how the people who did the casting for these Disney films always chose actors & actresses with the right kinds of faces for the parts they were playing, especially in certain key roles---Oscar Homolka being a perfect example, among others. Fun to see Kevin Corcoran a little older here with a steadier, less squealish, squawky voice, his countenance maturing into a handsome lad, his persona much less childish & mischievous than previously depicted. I could've sworn the actor playing Dan, the shipping investigator-spy, was the son of Dean Jones, or at least related but there's no indication of this in the credits that I could detect, unless I missed it. Anyway, on to Part 2!
